Does anyone use grill mats?

Reviews?  Recs?

Re: Does anyone use grill mats?

  • We do for asparagus and other veggies we want grilled that'll slip between the cracks.  We just bought the disposable ones and use them a few times until they're warped, then throw (well, recycle) and buy some new ones.  They work for what we want them for, nothing special.
  • The set I was looking at said they were reusable (rinse and wipe off) and I wondered if they'd be a better alternative to aluminum foil.  We go through so much foil, it's ridiculous.

I thought you meant the mat for under the grill and I was going to say don't do it.  Previous owners never moved/cleaned theirs and it's now permanently stuck to the deck.

In the past I've used either foil or a foil pan.  I also have a removable grate with squares things like asparagus can go on.  I just bought some cedar planks too that will probably replace some of the foil stuff.

  • We use something like THIS.

Easier to clean, works well for us, re-useable, etc.

DH is the griller, so he did a ridiculous amount of research before deciding to go with what we got. He loves it.
