I need help wording my RSVP cards.

I have to give my venue a list of each guest and their entree choice. This is the mock-up of the RSVP card. How can I word this so that my guests understand I need to know who choose which meal? Also, I seem to have limited room on that line. Anything I enter tells me it has to be changed by the design team.

Re: I need help wording my RSVP cards.

  • What if you changed 'indicate' to 'initial'? 'Please initial entree selection'? Then people could indicate who's getting what.

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'

    Initial would work.

As it is now (or if it said initial), I'd know what to do with it.

Should "selections" be just "selection" or "selection(s)"? Or "Please initial each guests' selection." Probably nitpicky and surely doesn't matter, but you may have cases where only one person is coming and they don't get multiple selections.

I do like the initialing suggestion, unless your family is like mine and has a lot of "Chris and Carol" and "Jules and Julia" couples (seriously). Mine says to indicate number of each since we have quite a few families so there may be 3 chicken and 1 fish, so I'll just have to have the waiter as "which of you had the fish?"

  • Thanks!! I'm ordering the invites next week. I'm so stressed about getting everything right. I've read over my invite design 35 times checking for mistakes.

Checking for mistakes is probably the single most stressful part of wedding planning so far. We just ordered our invites (not RSVP cards yet) and I'm STILL nervous.

It really is nerve-wracking! I already had my mom, FMIL and FI check it and I'm still nervous.

Ugh I've stressed out way more over getting all the titles in FI's family right. It's full of female doctors, widows and feminists.

Although my dad ordered my invites from a supplier, so the real wording stress was on him. haha :)

I changed it to "please initial entree selection". Good call.
  • I wish you the very best of luck with this.  I put to initial an entree selection and only about 6/180 guests did so.  Everyone else just put a number or checked it off.

Oh man! That sucks. If that's what happens, I will be making quite a few phone calls.

Why does your venue need the specific guest's name and the entree choice? Isn't that what escort cards are for?  I just had to give mine the number of each meal at each table and then I put it on escort cards (by couple, actually. And they had no trouble figuring it out)

I don't know. It's something they require. I have to give them a list of each guest's name, what table they're sitting at and what their entree choice is.

...plus zodiac sign, favorite color, and whether they like long walks on the beach.
