Second Weddings

Who is walking me down the isle issues

The first time I got married I had my dad walk me down the isle and I still remember how happy he was for me. This is going to be my second wedding though and I now have a son who will be fifteen at the time of the ceremony. I want my son to walk with me down the isle because it has pretty much just been the two of us for so many years. My father is convinced that I am making a mistake and that he is going to be walking me down the isle. What do I do? I really don't want to disappoint my dad but at the same time I want my son to be involved.

Re: Who is walking me down the isle issues

  • Why not have both, one of each side? Or ask one to escort your mom down the aisle. Or have dad walk you half way and hand off to your son and have hime walk you the rest of the way.

Or you son could do a reading or stand up on your side as a bride's man. There are plenty of ways to include both of them, you just need to find one that works best for you/FI?them :) GL!

  • I was going to suggest both of them as well - one on each side :)
  • Late to the party, but, I had both my 15 year old son and my dad walk me down the aisle.

I also did my first look with them instead of DH, because they're 2 of the most important men in my life, and I wanted just those few moments with them both.

It was awesome.  :)  No regrets!
