Destination Save The Date wordage?

We have printed save the date cards and we are having a destination wedding. There wasn't tons of room to put the info so we want to include some info with the save the date card so people can know what's going on. Any ideas or thoughts? I didn't want it to be really weird looking and a post it on the back like hey guys, Indian Rocks Beach, FL this time, this day - but then also not divulge all info because that's what the invites are for correct?

Please and thank you. :)

Re: Destination Save The Date wordage?

  • We included our wedding website on our STD postcards. You should at the very least include the date and city of the wedding. Since it is a DW, as a guest, I would prefer to have as much info as possible so I could plan and budget for the trip.

If you dont have space for name, date and location. What is on your STD?

Mine was a picture of us saying:

KatWag and Fi are getting married.

    May 19

    Chicago IL

I also put out wedding website at the bottom of the postcard.

It is a photo card..see attached. It was a slight oops on my end, when I had them printed I had gone through about 15 different designs and didn't realize it wasnt on there by the time my mind as fried at the end of they day.

So I know I ill have to include something, I just wanted it to stay somewhat formal.

Please excuse the typing errors, my laptop keeps freezing to auto draft and I look like an idiot typing.

So I am confused. Did you already print the STD you attached? Or can you still make edits? If you can still make edits, I would make the "Tying the knot" wording smaller so you could have room for the location under your date. I might even remove the picture to the right of the wording to add more room for text.

FWIW, I would not consider this a formal STD.

    FWIW?

This is already printed. In my hand, I have 40 of them. I will not be reprinting anything.

I am asking, just advice whether it be the most formal or informal  - I just don't want it to be a post it on the back of the photocard some suggestions from folks on how to let people know information without divuleging all the information since that should be saved for the formal invitation.

Neatly write your website on the back. There you will say Holiday Inn, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. No post-it necessary.
  • I would include a printed piece of paper that had the city and hotel info on it at the very least. Or your wedding website. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, you can print it at home yourself.

It's not a bad thing to include any info you have. You'd on't have to save anything for the invite.
If I received that STD I would assume it was in your hometown or where you currently live. If it is DW thins would be problematic if I didn't know I would need to save up for travel, hotel accommodations and possibly take time off from work.

STDs are not formal. You definitely need to say, "The wedding will be in Town, FL. http://www.wwebsite,etc."

    thank you!
  • I think you could easily do a printed address label, maybe on back, stating location & website.  Or I had a QR code made for my website (there are many free QR makers online), then made small 1"x1" stickers that just had our names, wedding date, website, and qr code.  They were pretty cute and something like that would be easy to stick in the corner of your STD or on the back, without it looking too weird.

FWIW, I work in web analytics, and NOBODY uses QR codes. They're kind of a laughing stock. Don't rely on it to communicate details.
