Under the gown?

I made my appointment for my dress fitting, and they said to make sure to bring any special undergarments that I want to wear. I am considering having cups put into my dress so I don't have to worry about a strapless bra. What else "special" do I need?

Many women (ie- ME lol) are going to be wearing Spanx under our dresses. If you were wearing spanx or a padded bra then they'd want you to wear that to your fitting. Just wear the underwear you plan to wear with your dress and a strapless bra and let them know about your plan.

wear a spanx even for your own comfort.... you can slip the top down once the dress is on and see what you need to have done.

Don't forget any sort of special slip or pettycoat you're planning to wear!

It's also helpful to have the shoes you plan on wearing so they can hem the dress correctly. If you're not sure about shoes, and think that you might be able to get away without hemming the dress if you have certain shoes, then you might be able to get away with wearing shoes they have at the bridal shop for your fitting to get the height you want, then just buy something of the same heel height. But if there are specific shoes you want, then I would make sure you have those for your fitting.
