March honeymoon ideas!

We will be taking a delayed honeymoon next March and can't decide where to go!  Costa Rica, St. Martin, St. Lucia, and southern California have all been thrown out there and we continue to debate!  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: March honeymoon ideas!

  • March is spring break time for college kids. You might want to avoid places that cater to the party crowds.

What do you like to do?  What is your budget?
  • Great point about spring break!

We are extremely fortunate where my parents are giving us a week of their RCI time share and my fiance's good friend works for Jet Blue so is giving us 2 tickets anywhere they fly as a wedding gift.  So although we are budget conscious for the wedding, we don't have to be as cautious with the honeymoon!  It would be nice to go somewhere that would give a nice combination of parking it and relaxing somewhere warm...as well as a couple of fun places to go and see.  That is how we threw in the Costa Rica idea because I have heard you can get the best of both worlds.  Not looking to be super active by any means but being able to get out and see a few things to get a local flavor would be fun.

@justine846 we are also taking our honeymoon in March! As others said, spring break could be a concern. Not sure where you are flying from, but that could also effect your destination options. We didn't want to spend an entire day traveling... Flying from Las Vegas to anywhere in the carribean pretty much eliminated many places for us. That being said - we ended up booking Secrets Maroma Beach and are sooooo excited!!!!! If you haven't looked there yet, check out trip advisor. Might be a good fit for you too :)

ETA I can't read apparently and missed the bit about the timeshare... my bad!

  • My parents have an RCI timeshare, too. I would actually suggest you take a look at their site and find out what resorts are available during your time frame in a handful of the cities you are considering. You would be surprised how far out things book. Also, I am usually underwhelmed by the reviews of most of the properties. Assuming you want something nicer for your honeymoon that will narrow down your options a bit. Finally, Jet Blue doesn't fly everywhere. Check their website for the flight map and then match that up with RCI locations.
