Question for Brides that used Drago Sisters or that have tasted their cakes

I picked my cake flavors, but I had to do it without the benefit of a cake tasting. One layer is red velvet and cream cheese. We would also like a strawberry shortcake type layer, so we picked vanilla cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. However, I'm concerned about the whipped cream spoiling if it sits out for too long. They suggested using Bavarian cream instead of the whipped cream, but it also can't sit out for too long. Another option is to just use the vanilla buttercream instead which apparently can last a long time. We are getting married in 11 days (!), and it will be pretty hot outside, although it should be cool inside. If you have tried these flavors/creams, please let me know your thoughts on the their taste. I don't want the cake spoiling, but I want to make sure that it tastes great. Thanks!

  • We used the cream cheese frosting. Is your reception outdoors? If not don't worry! The day of our wedding it was 95 degrees and it was fine :)

  • Thanks!  The reception is indoors, but they told me that the whipped cream frosting shouldn't be used if the cake will be out for more than a few hours- it isn't very stable and can go bad if it isn't refrigerated soon.  I'm just wondering if I should just use the buttercream frosting so I don't have to worry about it.  @valeriecruz82- Did you like the taste of the frosting?

  • I think it'll be fine. We left it out for an entire day and it tasted great even after. I remember coming back after clubbing the night of the wedding and having cake at 5am haha but I think either frosting will be fine.

  • We are using them, and we live here in Vegas so have had their cakes on other occasions. For my birthday this year FI got me a chocolate cake with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries. It was delicious!!!

How long will your cake be sitting out? That can make a difference, if it's only an hour or two vs. 5-6+ hours. If it's something you know you will be worried about, I would probably go with the buttercream just to be safe. We have never been disappointed with any of our cakes from them so I'm sure it will be delicious no matter what you decide :)
