Co-Workers

I have this co-worker, R,  who is socially awkward. She's super nice but, bless her heart, she's weird. Today is our boss's birthday, so this co-worker came back to my office to let us know that she brought in a red velvet cake made by her husband and went on and on about how her husband spent so much time making it and how, step-by-step, he made it and blah blah blah.

Another co-worker came back talking about how R was telling some other people that SHE made the cake, but that it was in a store-bought container and even had a store sticker and price tag on it...so I went back to look at it and sure enough, it does. So when she saw me looking at it and inspecting the container it was in, she said to me "I watched my husband make this last night! The house smelled so good! He should really be a baker!"  WHY LIE ABOUT THIS?! WHY? Its clearly store bought.

I can't handle her today. End rant.

Anyone else have crazy or annoying co-workers?

I have two really annoying co-workers. They sit right next to me and they are both very nice and pleasant to me but I think they have the worst office etiquette I've ever encountered. One of them literally hates her job so she bashes our company and her work every time she gets on the phone. She cusses and then talks about her personal life with a raised voice. Basically everyone can hear her. It's quite irritating.

The other lady isn't as bad but she just doesn't stop talking. I make it pretty obvious that I need to get my work done but she just continues and continues to talk to me about anything she can possibly think of. UGH! When I see that she is in the office, it's not a good day lol.

  • I work for a school department and we work closely with the town. I do the payroll for the school but when I'm done it gets sent over to the town for the last bit of processing. Today was supposed to be the last pay check for the summer for the teachers, so it is very large (they get paid for 6 checks worth to cover the summer months they are off). The town didn't have the money transferred over so no one on the school got paid today.

When I called to make sure it would be there tomorrow the woman at the town said "We didn't have time to transfer the money (they had two weeks but waiting until the 10th hour), but WE got paid. Thanks lady... why don't YOU pay for my student loans this time since they will be late... UGH!

  • I am in cube farm I hate it I'm very sensitive to noises and prefer quiet.  I really should bring in my ipod with headphones sometimes...

Anyway one co worker likes to bring in really crunchy food and eat it as an afternoon snack.  It can get quite annoying but he doesn't do it all the time luckily.  I have another person who sits in the cube next to me who constantly talks to herself about what she is doing, it's not loud , but it's loud enough so I can hear,  it's like she's talking to someone... It drives me insane......

  • When I first started working for this company, I was in a different department. About a year into that position, I was offered a promotion in a different department. My boss at the time, L, was not very happy. She's actually higher up in this company (one of the chief officers of something or other), and she threw temper tantrums for weeks in people's offices. She would beat on her chest and say stuff like, "I'M THE CHIEF! I'M THE CHIEF!" and then she'd come sit in my office and cry and ask why she was being perceived as the villain. I kept explaining to her that it wasn't anything personal--the other department had offered me a better job with better pay, and I would be remiss to ignore that opportunity. L still holds a grudge, and it's been about a year and a half since I switched jobs here. My company is tiny, btw. There are about 25 employees, so we see each other every day. Awkwaaaaard.

  • My office is behind the reception desk, since I do a lot of intake work. I'm also about 8 feet from our office kitchen. A lot of my co-workers will come and chat, loudly, with the receptionist, and seem offended when I close my office door. They also give me stink eye when I come and close the kitchen door...when they're in there talking and laughing incredibly loudly while some of us are still working. What the hell?!

  • I'm in a cube farm as well!  The guy that sits next to me is an older dude and is really nice but whenever he has to bring me something that I need to update or fix for him he has to tell me a big long drawn out story about the whole thing.  I'm always thinking "ok dude I got it like 5 mins ago"

That's so bizarre...The weird thing is, if she wanted people to think it was homemade, why didn't she say SHE baked it? I don't get why she had to drag her husband into this. Also, geez take it out the damn container.

@pinkcow13 Right?! My co-workers and I are all so confused about it. Maybe she just wanted to talk her husband up and hear people "ooo and awww" over him? I really have no idea, but whatever. I got a piece of cake out of it :)

Probably wanted compliments for her husband, clearly she feels inadequate about something.  At least least take it out of the container though...... people aren't stupid....

Did anyone call her out on it?

  • @peaseblossom55 one of my co-workers was like, "R...are you sure your husband made this cake because it looks store bought to me..."  but she insisted that he did -_-

I saw on the container that it was from Kroger, so I told one of my co-workers that I wanted to run down there, buy another red velvet cake that looks like the one her H "made", bring it back to work  and be like, "Hey guys! I just made a red velvet cake too!"
    You totally should have....

  • Peaseblossom55 on this one, that would have been awesome, if you brought in your own cake, haha.
