Maggianos extension

We asked Maggianos about extending our booking from 10pm until 11pm and initially they said yes for $250. Then they realized that we'd already extended at the front of our booking for a cocktail hour from 5pm-6pm, so said they can't have the bar open for 6 hours as they would be "over serving" our guests.

Is this common in Vegas - do most places only let you have a bar open for 4-5 hours?

We were always planning to carry on the party afterwards anyway, we just realized when doing our playlist that we would only have 2.5 hours of dancing at Maggianos and wanted to make the most of the private room!

Thinking of maybe Kahunaville for the afterparty as it is close and seems fun!

Re: Maggianos extension

  • You can have the bar open as long as you want.  At least I'm pretty sure that's the case.  You just can't pay for "OPEN" bar where the drinks are unlimited for a set per person price.  After the 4 hours of open bar, it changes to a cash bar or where the host just pays for individual drinks.  We did the same thing you did with extending the time at Maggiano's and we'll just put any drinks ordered past the 4-hour point on our tab.  As far as our guests know, nothing will be any different because they'll still be able to order whatever they want.  Besides, after 4 or 5 hours of people drinking whatever they want, it will probably be cheaper for the host to pay individually anyhow, if that's how you choose to do it.

I think that probably is pretty standard.  I have spoken with a LOT of places during my planning for welcome parties, bachelorette and reception and most places only have the option for somewhere between 2-4 hours for open bar.

  • Dbacksgirl, how long have you got Maggianos for? They specifcally said we couldn't have the bar for more than 5 hours, even though we would do host/cash bar. We are doing host bar for first hour, then 4 hour open bar package
  • Oh, wow.  OK.  I didn't know they wouldn't let you go past 5 hours.  I just saw that groupon for 8 hours at Carlos & Charlie's so I guess there are places that will do it but for us, I think 5 hours there will be enough.  It may not seem like it but 2.5 hours of dancing is a lot.  And like you said, you can always move the party to another location for those that aren't ready to wind it down yet.  The change might be fun.  And yep, we're doing 5-10pm, 4 hours of open bar and then 1 hour of hosted consumption bar where we'll just pay for whatever is ordered (no shots though).  We figured after that, we might hit up Cosmo or the Bourbon Room at Venetian.  Might be cool to run around the strip a bit in our fancy clothes!
