Rehearsal brunch or lunch?

We are getting married on a Sunday. Our venue gives us the option of having our rehearsal any time Thursday, early on Friday, or early on Saturday. I'm inclined to do it early on Saturday. I'm not quite sure what "early" means at this point, but I was wondering: would it be okay to have a rehearsal brunch or lunch rather than a rehearsal dinner? It's likely going to be a very small group, but I don't see the point in breaking up everyone's day that much by having a rehearsal in the morning (or early afternoon) and then a dinner in the evening. I also figure this will give FI, me, and everyone else a chance to relax a bit more the night before the wedding. Let me know what you think.

    I think much like a wedding, a rehearsal shouldn't have a gap. I think it's fine to have a brunch or lunch. But u would make it every bit as fancy as you were planning for a dinner.

    I agree that there shouldn't be a gap, but I don't think the brunch or lunch has to be "fancy."  Just as rehearsal dinners don't have to match the wedding for formality, neither do rehearsal brunches or lunches.  They can be informal and laid back.

    I wasn't saying it needed to be fancy. I was just meaning don't skimp on it just because it's lunch. If you were going to go to a steakhouse for dinner, I think you should have the equivalent of lunch. If you were going to order pizza and beer for dinner, I think you should also do the equivalent for lunch.

    Definitely go with your gut and don't have a gap. I've attended a morning rehearsal and rehearsal brunch and it was awesome! Yay mimosas!

    The point of a rehearsal dinner is to feed people as a thank you for coming out and rehearsing. A gap between the rehearsal and the meal, just to make sure the meal is a dinner meal, is no different from inviting guests to your morning ceremony, and then asking them to come back later for dinner because you want a dinner reception.

    Definitely don't do dinner. Saturday brunch sounds wonderful so people can go about their days.

    I think Saturday lunch or brunch sounds good and that way they still have the majority of the day Saturday to do non-wedding things.

    I love brunch so that sounds great. Especially if it's a small group of people you're close with, that could be very nice. And it gives you time for whatever else you need to do that day, and allows you to get home earlier and get some rest before the big day.

    Everything you ladies are saying about a gap is exactly what I'd rather do a brunch/lunch. I know I wouldn't feel like I could do much of anything between the rehearsal and the dinner if there was a gap, and I want people (myself included) to be able to get on with their days/evenings without that kind of disruption. And I'll be sure that the lunch will be as nice as the dinner would have been. Thanks for your help!
