RSVPs... WWTKD?

FI and I were thinking of doing a postcard style RSVP. Has anyone ever done this? And how did you like them?

We aren't doing meal selections so the RSVP would basically just have the accept / decline box. Should I have a spot for them to put the names of those attending as well?

Most weddings I have been involved in had either a website or email for RSVPs so I have no clue what I should do.

Edited for grammar.

Re: RSVPs... WWTKD?

  • I think this is fairly common; my only concern about it would be that the postcards with responses would be exposed to the elements and whatever damage might ensue as a result of the postal service transporting them.

I personally would prefill out names in the hope that it will emphasize exactly who is invited and discourage those who would add uninvited guests to the RSVP from doing so, but in the end, people will add those names anyway if they really don't get that they're not authorized to RSVP for anyone not listed on the invitation envelope.
  • I will definitely be sure to list invited guests on the RSVP. Thank you! :-)
  • I was thinking of doing post card RSVPs as well. (I ended up just doing it via phone, since I have such a small guest list.)
  • I think another Knottie used them and that her experience was that they came back pretty mangled. That would be my only concern.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We did postcard RSVPs and they all came back intact and legible. It was nice to be able to save the cost of envelopes and Forever stamps. We didn't prefill them with guests' names, but we did number each one, very small on the back, in case anyone forgot to write a name in (turned out to be unnecessary).
  • Ditto @emmyg65, exactly - down to the reasoning, condition, and numbering! I say go for it.
