Archway at the Ceremony

edited June 2014 in March 2015 Weddings

Hey Everyone,

Just looking for an opinion on archways. My fiancé thinks it's a required element of a ceremony, but since we're having a civil ceremony I can't see any reason it would be. Does anyone have any info on this?

  • There's nothing "required" for a ceremony as far as decor goes. Totally up to you!

  • The only thing required for a ceremony is a JOP, bride, groom and witness.

Many couples don't have archways for their ceremony. Their marriage isn't any less valid.

  • My partner thinks it's important, so we'll probably do one as it's one of the only thing he cares about. I think it makes it feel more formal to him, but I certainly wouldn't say it's required by any means.
