Who to introduce?

I am getting married in May, and I need advice.  My Uncle is walking me down the aisle because my Dad passed away 17 years ago and he's been a Father figure to me.  We were thinking of only having our Bridal party announced (Maid of Honor, 3 Bridesmaids, Best Man & 3 Groomsmen)
My fiance is thinking his Mom, Dad & Step Mom will just want to go to their seats and not be announced.  Do I have my Uncle announced?

Please note we are paying for the wedding ourselves so I don't know if acknowledgement is needed.

Opinions?

I've never heard of parents/relatives being announced. Personally I rarely even see the wedding party announced, but maybe that's just me.

I would not have your uncle announced, especially if FI's parents are not being announced.

ETA: I agree with Maggie below — list your uncle in your program, which will serve as an acknowledgement.
  • We had our parents announced as well as the wedding party. But really you can announce whoever you want. I would just list your Uncle in your program and then just announce the wedding party at the reception.

  • I've never seen parents introduced at the reception, just listed in the program. We're also listing FI's grandparents since they're so important to him, even though they're not serving any real role in the wedding.

We had our parents announced too. But it certainly isn't necessary...especially if someone is uncomfortable with it.

  • This is up to you.

We had both sets of parents introduced and our bridal party (just a MOH and BM).  If announcing/introducing parents causes drama it is 100% okay to skip it.
