Friday!

Gooooood morning, folks.

I'm actually late to work this morning; ideally, I would have gotten here around 6, but I'm amazingly adept at sleeping through my alarm, so I didn't get here till a few minutes ago. Let's see how late I have to stay tonight to make up for it!

No plans tonight, besides relaxing. Tomorrow, I have a hair appointment. I've been growing out my hair lately, which is beyond irritating, and my stylist encouraged me to grow out my bangs a bit to go with my long hair. I really miss having bangs, though, so I think I'll cut them short again. I might also get a little bit of shopping done while I'm in the area. I might head up to Cambridge later that night to get drinks with some friends, but the bar is inconveniently located, and 8pm on a Saturday, even during the summer, means a crowded bar. But we'll see!

Sunday, I'm going with J to his family's Fathers' Day dinner. I'm disappointed; if it were more lunch than dinner (e.g. just a couple hours earlier), we could do both his family's dinner and my family's not-Fathers'-Day gathering the same evening.

Meanwhile, I'm probably going to finish binge watching Once Upon a Time so that I can finally, ya know, sleep and function like a human.

What's everyone up to this weekend?

@Phira I've been hearing such good things about Once Upon a Time... I think it will be next on my list of shows.  I've been watching Pretty Little Liars and I'm just not loving this show yet.. I think I'm about 10 episodes in to the first season.

My weekend should be pretty exciting, my brother is in town (our hometown) for a few days on vacation from work down in Texas.  I haven't seen him since March so it'll be nice to catch up.  Tomorrow we are having a big family BBQ with plenty of drinks to consume!  I'll be heading home on Sunday fairly early to spend father's day with my FI...though I haven't thought of any plans just yet.

  • Friday!

Tonight we have gaming, but I don't know where yet - apparently that's still up for negotiation.

Tomorrow morning I have to go to work (blech) and then I hope I can go to the local art fest. It's outdoor, though, and it's supposed to be a stormy day ... afternoon ... weekend ... so I might not get to do much outdoorsy stuff. Work on the house, keep cleaning and unpacking, maybe get up to a bike shop? My uncle offered to get me a bike if I could find a good one. FI has gaming in the evening.

Sunday FI and I are going to my parents' place for Father's Day where I will have to be nice to a whole lot of people who have been very difficult to get along with lately. :) Like my parents and my brother. I'm kind of hoping we can just show up, do lunch, and leave. Otherwise, keep cleaning and unpacking.

At some point FI and I have to sit down and replan the wedding, because I put my parents' "short list" in last night and we went from 60 to 110. Also, we finally put ourselves into the wedding guest list, which I'm assuming is important if we want to actually eat.
  • TGIF!!

I haven't been sleeping well this week and I left work sick Wednesday so I am just waiting for this week to end. Today after work I am going to go shopping for a cute outfit for tomorrow. I'm not sure what we are doing tonight but if I'm still not feeling well I might just lay low.

Tomorrow is my birthday! My stepfather's family is in from FL and CA and they are having a huge cookout. It's been a huge drama fest because I really didn't want to go spend my birthday with all these people I didn't know and our friends are having a cookout too. So my parent's said to go to our friend's cookout and that we would do dinner after. Now my stepdad is thinking their party is going to go all day (which it won't but he being difficult) so we have no plans for my dinner yet. And he is really upset with me for not going to the family cookout when I was told in the first place it was okay. So basically right now tomorrow is a clusterfuck until I figure out what to do and it's my damn birthday so I want to throw a fit. I won't, but I feel like it would make me feel better lol.

Sunday I have no clue what we are doing. Stepdad said he would "forgo" Father's day so we can go out to eat for my birthday then, but his family is still in town so who knows what we will do.

    But yeah..TGIF!
    friends tv show funy
  • @Phira and @BreMR - I love Once Upon A Time I'm also a fan of Pretty Little Liars - I watch WAY too much TV.  I actually hooked up a 2nd TV and put it in front of my treadmill just so I'm not being lazy on the couch.  Finally got the clearance that my foot is in good shape I can try out this new setup.

Tonight - I pick up FI from the airport.
Tomorrow - AM FI has his 6-week out LASIK appointment.  Afternoon/Evening FI's friend is getting married so we have to go to the ceremony.  The ceremony is at 2:00 and the reception is at 6:00... that's a huge ass break!  At least I have time to run home and let the dogs out for awhile before heading back.
Saturday - Father's day, will spend it with FI's family as I'm afraid of my mom at the moment (I cannot even talk to her without her getting all this anxiety about my wedding and having to wear a dress and get on a plane and be around strangers and this and that...) - so I'll give my dad a phone call and/or email.

I'm kinda feeling a little under the weather today, so we'll see how much of this actually happens.

  • This afternoon I have a lot of errands to run. Then I'd like to get my house cleaned and some laundry done so I don't have to do it over the weekend. Maybe H and I will hit a movie later too.

Tomorrow we'll probably go for a hike with Remi and then re-organise the guest closet. (This condo is starting to feel a little cramped with both of us!) Then we're off to a wine and cheese couple's party. We'll drink, eat and play games. Should be fun!

Sunday we may be doing something for father's day. H and his brother want to honor their dad in some way...so waiting to see what they come up with. My MIL has been a big source of stress for us right now and she & H got into it last night...so not sure if we'll do a family thing this weekend or not.

Oh TGIF. I've been under the weather all week, and took Wednesday afternoon and yesterday off from work because I felt so crappy. Just need to get through today.

Tonight I am headed out to my parents place to hang out with my mom and my sister. They both want to talk about ALL the wedding things and drink wine and make cookies, so that should be fun. I totally forgot that FI was planning to come with me (whoops) but lucking my sister's BF will be there so they can...I don't know, do something else if they want.

We're doing Father's Day stuff tomorrow, so my sister and I will be up early to make our dad breakfast. Then my mom and I have a meeting for the camp board that we are on, and hopefully that won't go too long. My dad's band is playing tomorrow night, so we're going to head over to that after our meeting, and I think FI is planning on meeting us there. FI is also dropping off our contract and deposit at the reception venue tomorrow afternoon, so YAY!

Sunday is church and then FI and I have to deal with that damn registry. When did it become a thing to buy registry gifts for an engagement party? People are already asking our moms, and I think it's just crazy; I didn't plan on registering for several months! We've told them there is nothing on there yet...but really it's just hilariously lopsided. We added a couple of the big-ticket things that we know we need/want, since we were at the store on Tuesday, so right now there are like 4 items over $150, and then 10 mugs...at that is all. Need to fix that situation pronto lol

  • SO happy it's Friday.

I'm working a half day and obsessively refreshing my email because we were supposed to get our e-pics yesterday. Tonight FI and I are going to an event at the High Museum sponsored by my school's alumnae group. There's a special exhibit of cars that FI is really excited about. So it should be fun.

Saturday is errands and more errands, getting ready to go to Boston for work next week. I'm forcing myself to stop by the semi-annual sale even though I hate bra shopping, because need to stock up on pretty things before we get married. Sunday is morning church and then brunch with a friend.

@lmcooper you can never have too many mugs! And @Swazzle I love your new sig gif!

  • @Phira I had the same problem this morning.  I slept through my alarm and woke up 45 minutes late :\

Tonight my BFF/BM is coming into town to visit! I am so excited because I haven't seen her in 2 months! Not sure what we're gonna do but I don't even care. I can't wait!

Saturday is a busy day. I sold a vehicle of mine last night to a friend. I deposited the check last night, so tomorrow morning I have to pull the money out to pay off the car, drive an hour to my hometown, hand them the cash, get my title, and give it to my friend. Then we are going to several different shops to look for FI's and his GM's attire for the wedding. I have to get my dad something for Father's Day too, but I have NO IDEA what to get him. Then we have date night!

Sunday I am going to my hometown to see my dad. Not sure what we're doing.

@Dignity100 and @BreMR It's kind of weird because I can't really figure out if I even LIKE Once Upon a Time ... but I can't stop watching it. I don't think it's a bad show, but I just can't pinpoint why I like watching it so much. I'm about halfway through season 3 now (just got through the midseason finale). It was SUPPOSED to be my treadmill show to watch at the gym, and the idea was that it would motivate me to go to the gym ... but then I was really bored and home and needed something to watch, and I wanted to know how the pilot (I'd started it at the gym) ended.

I'm working from home today! Only one more week until my boss comes back from vacation and two more weeks til I go on vacation!!! These past two and a half weeks have been ridiculously stressful. Last night I could barely keep my eyes open and nearly fell over walking down the hallway to our bedroom. I'm so ready for a break.

Today FI and I and my mom are picking up pizza and going to @southernpeach89's house to hang out with her and her H and play with their new puppy!!! I can't wait! He's such a fat little fuzzball! I'm going to get all the puppy kisses and be his favorite puppy aunt.

Tomorrow I'm kicking FI out of bed early and we're going to work on the yard until about 1:30. Then we'll need to get showered and go to the mall because his tuxedo came in for him to try on and make sure that's what he wants to wear for the wedding day. We don't have any plans afterwards, probably a walk and then grilling and beer.

Sunday we don't have any plans until that evening. We bought tickets to take my dad to a Braves vs. Angels game for Father's Day. Our plan is to go super early and have dinner and beer and then watch the game (which doesn't start til 8...ugh!).

  • @LaPeanut1018 at least it will be a little cooler outside by 8:00. I haven't even been to a Braves game yet this season (and I missed the cards when they were in town...sad face)

  • @peaseblossom55 IT'S YOUR WEDDING WEEKEND!!!!  I kinda doubt you'll check in too much before the big day, but lots of love!

Our house situation is just ridiculous at the moment.  The sellers want to pay for a new appraisal.  If it's the same as our lender's appraisal, they're willing to renegotiate the price.  If it's higher than our appraisal, the lender won't finance our loan (without PMI) so we're walking on the house.  This will add 2-3 weeks onto this house's timeline.  I'm kinda at the point where I'm like "eh" about the house just because of all the extra hoops we will have to jump through.  So we will see.  May just look at other houses this weekend because we can.

I'm working every night this weekend, so we will probably keep our days pretty chill.  Apparently my retail job likes me because I am working ALL the hours in the next two weeks.  But what I really want is for one of my teaching potential jobs to call and give me a job for August-May.  :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • YAY FRIDAYYYY.

This week went by super fast, because I was only in the office for one day (hence me being MIA from here all week). Monday I had a golf outing for work, Tuesday I was in the office, and Wednesday & Thursday we had a divisional retreat. Yesterday we wrapped up with lunch at a place that's owned by the university I work for, but it's an event space for weddings & functions - and I'm KIND OF in love with it. I'm trying to convince FI that we need to get married there (if only for the discount I get for being an employee, haha).

Tonight, I'm getting to see my BEST FRIENDSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I have a meeting with my boss at 1130, then I'm zipping home, throwing stuff into my duffle bag, and hitting the road!! Hopefully FI has everything else ready by the time I get there (he took the whole day off, the jerk), so we can just hop in the car and go.

We're going to get to CT, I'm going to mouth kiss everyone, Vi is going to get ALL the snuggles, we're going to eat ALLL the things, drink AAAALLLLL the things, laugh, snuggle, and laugh some more. Saturday the boys are going to stay home with the dogs, and the girls are going to go to the wedding dress shop where @hummingbird125 & I are going to make everyone cry (even @csousa1)

Sunday I'm going to cry when we leave. FI & I are going to meet his mom & stepdad for lunch before we head home - we haven't seen them since we've been engaged, so his mom is super excited.

    IS IT NOON YET?!?

I thought I was going to yoga class at my gym today, but then I slept until 10am.  I could probably still make it, but.....

Tomorrow is a giant yard sale at the airport, so this rain better clear out by then!!  Although I suppose I better plan on a LOT of mud!

Sunday I have to go to Boston for work, so I'm hoping traffic will be friendly.  We don't usually do much for father's day, so I'll just drop off my dad's card with the dogs in the morning!

Oh, I have to find time to get my nails done at some point too! Maybe I'll find a place in boston near the hotel...

  • I was suppose to go to work today but since no one in my department was going to be there, I was officially freed!

Not sure what V and I are doing today. We talked about going to the river and swim for a bit but the weather is blah. I may do more research on my potential grad schools and dream to trip to New Zealand. I'll most likely read some more of The Girls Guide To Everything. I really love this book.

I'm definitely going to the gym, those 15 pounds are going down!

I need to send father day presents soon and buy my brothers birthday present too.

I'm going to go work at my other museum tomorrow so that will give me something to do.

The weather on sunday is suppose to be nice so that's most likely when we will go swimming. Overall, no real definite plans.

  • @buttercup1958 um, can I come to New Zealand with you?  I want to go kayaking in the glow worm cave?  And scuba diving on the great barrier reef, so we might need to go to Australia too.  Also I would prefer not to be eaten by a great white or man eating alligator or getting stung by a box jelly.  So you have to protect me, lol.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @Blue & White Of course! As long as you let me hike all the national parks and when we hike Mt.Cook we have to play The Lord of The Rings soundtrack!
    image
  • @buttercup1958 deal!  H and I are considering New Zealand as a delayed honeymoon if we ever get around to buying a house lol
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • Blue & White I'm really sorry about your house deal, it really blows! V and I always talk about how that would be our honymoon trip. We have talked about the kind of wedding we want, something that doesn't cost much at all. We rather go to New Zealand and have a nice size down payment then a huge wedding. That isn't for awhile though! We were just at JcPenny yesterday and the cashier lady asked us when we were getting married. We have been going out for 9 months and we are still in undergrad! Plus I'm only 20! No need to rush it haha.
    image
  • @buttercup1958 haha, understandable!  I dated my ex from age 16 to 21 or so and EVERYONE thought we were getting married - I told him I wasn't getting married until I got my PhD, lol.  I actually ended up getting my MS instead of my PhD due to changing job interests/prospects, but yea, I wanted no part of getting married in undergrad :)  Any chance you can convince your school to let you study abroad?  I mean a honeymoon is great, but studying abroad is a much longer trip!  One of my friends (she went to U of Maryland) studied abroad in NZ and I've been jealous ever since!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @Blue & White Luckily V and I are on the same page. We are both planning on going to grad schools and want to make sure we are stable before we even think of the idea of getting married. Its still fun to talk about though! And I'm not sure, but there is a possibility. Our geology program allows study abroad research trips that can count towards your degree. I think it can count for 3 credits. Last trip our department took was to Hawaii. Not the exact same but they are open to traveling! I've talked to my mentor/employer/professor about it and he seem to like the idea, so hopefully it might happen!

  • No plans tonight. Just going to head home and snuggle with Bean, No-Uh and el Senor.

Tomorrow, Bean has a lesson mid morning, so we'll be at the barn most of the day. Then it's home to get showered and hopefully make it to Costco for a few things.

Sunday, we're going to church in the morning, then we're going to shower el Senor with Father's Day love. He's getting a super awesome Darth Vader "Father of the Year" shirt, this burger stuffer thing he was eyeing at BB&B, and a bacon cookbook. Plus cards from the boys and me. Then I'm going to cook him ribs for dinner.
"Stuart was scared, but he loved Margalo, Mommy. And there is nothing bigger than love." -The Bean
"His farts smell like Satan's asshole mixed with a skunk's vagina. But it's okay, because I love him." -CSousa

  • @buttercup1958 yep, that definitely sounds like a worthwhile option :)
