officiant cost?

Just wondering how much everyone else is spending on their officiants. We budgeted $300, but we're finding that is not enough for someone to write ours customized. We don't really want to go the route of a judge, city clerk, etc, and we're not affliated with any churches, so we can't go that route either. The few we have met with or spoke to are quoting $400-$600. Is this the range that everyone else is in? It just seems like a lot of money! Yikes!

that's what we budgeted as well, and we got the same range of quotes.  because of this, we are having a close friend officiate for free, since in CO you can self-solomnize and they don't need to be ordained or anything. so maybe consider that?  i wrote our ceremony based on scripts i found online...it was really easy and took me about 30 minutes.

We ended up writing our own and hiring an officiant (a wonderful one!)  for around $250-300.  She has prices posted on her website, but if they don't work for you, just talk to her and maybe she can work something out.  Gabrielle is fantastic.  She does just about anything!  Her name is Gabrielle Woods - Check her out at:

We used Rev Michael Woods, and he was reasonable.  ~$400 I think.  I loved him and his speaking style.  Worth every penny.

We're spending $389 for Lyssabeth's. So far, they are great. That price is for a totally customized ceremony. I think you need to plan to pay $400 or so to get someone good. Personally, I don't want an amateur performing my ceremony--too many things can go wrong!
