Men are Dumb (Stupid GM Story)

So one of the GM calls FI last night and says just so you know I have to work early on Sunday morning so I'm leaving your wedding at 7:30.  Um no- The wedding doesn't even start until 6pm and the reception is not until 8. FI I tells him this and he says oh I thought the wedding was at 11am because that's the time you need me there.  Men have no clue. He doesn't realize that they have to get ready and take photos. He also never bothered to read his invite because it clearly states the time of the wedding.  Much to FI's credit he told him don't bother showing up if he's only staying an hour because we're not going to waste $400 on meals for him and his date.  I know the situation is handled but I'm just so floored at how dumb people can be.

    Oh my gosh! That is absolutely insane.
    Men can be so dumb - I'm having major issues with FI's best man, I should not have to plan a bachelor party because of his lack of ability and I shouldn't have to contribute money to it with his best man makes twice as much as I do. But - I'd rather FI have a party than not have one at all.

    I'm really sorry his GM is acting like this. That's horrible. Even if he does have to work the next day, it's not like he is 8 and needs to go to bed before 8:30pm, he can drink a cup of coffee extra in the morning. Good lord - your friends only (normally) get married once.

    Good for your FI for standing his ground!  That's ridiculous!  Like pp said, he's not a child.  A few hours lack of sleep isn't going to hurt him.  He's known about the wedding for a while now, he could have asked off for the next day or made arrangements to maybe come in a little later.  So far we haven't run into any problems with our bridal party, except my MOH whining that she can't wear flip flops during the wedding ceremony!

    On another note... your dinner is $200 a plate??! Do you mind me asking what you're serving? And if you allow wedding crashers? :)

    Seriously?!  I just can't get over how ridiculous that is.  I'm glad your FI said that!!

    It's typical NNJ pricing.  We're having a full open bar, cocktail hour with just about everything you can think of- hibachi station, sushi/ saki bar, caviar and infused vodka station, raw bar, plus hot food and passed apps.  DInner is prime rib, stuffed chicken, or salmon.  Dessert is a vinese hour with chocolate fountain, pies, zeppoli station, cookies, puddings, wedding  cake and fire show.  It's way too much food.  You can see it all on Four Weddings on Friday!
