Help me pick out a dress for my cousin's wedding!

I could really use some help with picking out a dress for my cousin's wedding at the end of July. I figured you ladies may be able to help!

So, the wedding is in a ballroom at a historic but upscale mansion. The invitation said "Black Tie Optional" on the bottom (I realize this is poor etiquette, but it was her only mistake so far). However, I have NO idea what I should wear. The ceremony starts at 6 pm, with an elaborate reception to follow. I just went to her Bachelorette last weekend, where I found out that we will be ordering food from waiters at the table and they have an elaborate cocktail hour planned. It seems to be more on the black tie end as far as the formality, so I was leaning toward a long gown.

I will have to either buy or rent a dress, as I only have club/sorority formal dresses, which are too skin tight to be appropriate. Here are ones that I found on Rent the Runway that I really like, but I am definitely open to other suggestions. Would red, blue, or purple look like I am attending prom again?

    I've never been to a black tie event so I would definitely have to rent or buy a new dress too.
    I like the long navy dress with black at the top. I like the red too but I can picture a bridesmaid wearing that. Do you know what the wedding colors are from the invitation? I always avoid dressing in the wedding colors but that's just me and I'm weird.

    @leese19 The invitation was gold with black print, but my cousin's pinterest wedding board is full of pastels, so I think I would be okay with jewel tones. I am confirming with her sister (my younger cousin who is a bridesmaid) now though. I completely agree that I don't want to be mistaken for a bridesmaid though!

    I liked both Monique Llullier options. 

    Actually, I liked them all, but those two stood out.

    take it back. I liked the carlos miele one best. still like the monique llulier a lot, but I don't like the nicole miller. I love lace, but not black lace on nude fabric.

    I definitely like the first one the best, then the third one.

    I don't think any of them look prom-like, but I also went to prom when most of us wore princess-y dresses!

    What a cool idea to rent clothing, I've never heard of that!

    I actually like the 4th link, the navy dress the best. I think its classy, sexy, and I love the detailing.

    So, I love the Carlos Miele, but just found out that the bridesmaids are wearing Plum, and I think it would be too similar of a color :(.

    My favorite out of all of them is the first one though, so I am glad that others seem to like it too! I'm thinking either of the two Monique Lhuillier's. Thank you all so much!

    @kelani23 I know! I have never used RtR, but have many friends that have and they swear by it. Plus, the rentals are much cheaper then buying a new gown.

    They should totally rent wedding dresses!

    All of the "used" ones use "only worn once!" as a selling point! Duhhhhhh lol

    @blabla89 I did see that one, but unfortunately I don't think it would flatter me as much as the others. Which I am really sad about, because it is a gorgeous dress! I am busty on top, and the extra fabric just would make me look like I got a boob job and swallow the rest of me :(. If there wasn't such a high neckline and extra fabric on top, I would consider it!

    Also, BF just asked me if I was getting good advice from "The Knotters". I looked at him and told him "I think you mean Knotties." His response: "No, I like Knotters better."

    I really love the red one, although they're all gorgeous. I also love that navy dress. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those!
