I just ordered my dress! . . . without trying it on . . .

I found a dress that is perfect for my destination wedding in May 2015. The reviews said it is pretty lightweight and makes for a nice beach dress as well. I originally had an appointment with Davids Bridal for August but while looking at dresses online I found one on sale. It is originally a $599 dress for $99, so I decided to chance it and order it. I am really hoping it fits. I am a size four in the hips and waist and a size 6 in bust. I figured I would be better off going with the 6 to make sure everything fits okay.

Has anyone ordered a dress without trying it on, or any wedding dress for that matter? I figured for $99 I do not have much to lose. I even got free shipping so with tax it was a total of $105.

I have also included a picture of the Sandals that I will be wearing. We are getting married in Jamaica, and I plan on choosing one of the Gazebos at the resort, so we will not actually be on the beach.

  • Wow! I figure that if it doesn't fit or you don't actually like it, 105 is sooo much better than 1050!

That's a beautiful dress. Hope it fits!

  • Thanks, that is what I was thinking when I ordered it. I did read that you can mail in to exchange, so If I am in need of a different size, which I shouldn't be, we will be able to take care of that. I rather alter down than up.

What on line site did you order from?  There are thousands of on line sites that are not honest, and are selling cheap knock off versions of the dress.  Are they a licensed seller of this design?

  • If it's close you can always take it to a seamstress. Also, I hope you ordered from a real site and not one of those scam ones! They fool a lot of people.

  • It is from the Davids Bridal site. I am one to every now and then save money by purchasing items from china, but my wedding dress is not one of them. I used the Davids Bridal size chart to order. So it is definitely legit. I will be watching the price on my dress after to see if it goes back up to the $599, I just did not want to lose out because it was my favorite out of all of my many hours of searching.

Whew!  You should be fine, then.  Congratulations on your bargain!  I ordered a dress for my daughter to wear to a formal awards presentation next week.  She loved it!

It probably won't go back up. It's an older style, and they rarely go back up in price. Congrats on the bargain!
  • I totally bought my wedding dress online without trying it on. I also got lucky that it was not only a good deal, but actually fit me. Congrats!!

  • The dress I liked dropped to $99 too. I set up an appointment so I could try it on, but it was sold out of store. I was going to try and buy it online, but by that point it was completely sold out. Glad you were brave enough to just pull the trigger and buy it!

I just checked it and it is back at $349.00. I am just curious if it will go back down to $99.00 in the next couple of months. Glad I purchased it!

I just got my dress in the mail today! I tried it on, and it fits really well. I had nobody to zip the back for my, so I was not able to get it all the way up because Fiance' does not want to see it until I walk down the Isle. I need about an inch taken in around the waistline as expected, and the length altered. I love it, and I am so happy with my $105 dollar purchase. Now I have to figure out whether I will take it to Davids Bridal to alter because they guarantee their work, or if I have it altered elsewhere.

Now I can officially recommend shopping the $99 dollar sale and using a coupon code for free shipping as long as you use the size chart and size accordingly! This is perfect for my destination wedding in Jamaica. (Sorry the one photo is upside down, was too lazy to fix it but when you click on it, it appears right side up.)

Wow !  good for you!  that is unusual for the $99.00 dresses. Normally, they go down, and then stay down until they are gone.   Congrats again on the crazy bargain.
  • Very pretty! Good job!

  • I bought mine as well online without trying any wedding dresses on.  It fit pretty good. I did get alterations, but I was expecting that and they certainly weren't extensive alterations.
  • I ordered this same dress! It was $349.99 on 6/30, but before I checked out it passed midnight and went up to $399.99 while still in my cart! Then mine came with a missing hook on the other side above the zipper and I noticed one of the tucks hangs a bit and you can see the knot from the thread under unless you adjust the 'tuck'. Err! Just got mine in mail 7/11 and went online to find a # to call and see that it's back to $349. So frustrated! Sent an email on their contact us online form.
  • Oh no! I should check mine. I cannot really zip mine myself, so I did not pay attention to the zipper hooks. I would be frustrated too! I do not notice any problems like that with mine. I wonder if once it is altered and steamed it would be better. I am thinking about getting the train taken off of mine as we are having a destination wedding, and I don't think I need all of that extra on the back. I hope everything works out for you!

  • I ordered mine from David's too because it was discontinued and I didn't want to risk it.  I took a gamble on the size and it fits, but is pretty snug around my ribcage.  It fits well enough that I kept it though - I got it for $280 shipping and all so it's not a complete loss if I fall in love with something else!  lol

  • I wonder if you can have it taken out an inch? I am wondering if the train can be taken off of mine when I go in for altering. I wont be going in for that for altering for another 7 months or so though.

My wedding isn't for another 9 months, so I can either get really serious about working out, or the seamstress there said that their dresses give them enough leeway to go in or out up to 2 sizes I think.  I haven't really thought about tailoring yet - Maggie Sottero dresses keep catching my eye....must resist!  :D

Your dress is so pretty and it looks great on you!  Congrats on the sweet deal!
