June 2014 Weddings

Late June Brides

Congrats to all those who are married!

Some of us are still counting the days (I'm a June 28th -- 11 days to go)!

Who is still here and how are you holding up?  Any last minute venting, chaos or fun??

I'm June 28 too.  We've pretty much got everything done.  We need to put the final touches on our playlist.

We found out last night that FI's friend who was going to do a reading in or wedding won't be able to make it after all.  And just after I had given final numbers to the vendor.  Fortunately, we can change the numbers through tomorrow, so I sent an updated count this morning. FI has to ask someone else to do the reading.  I was going to print our programs today.  But since we don't know who will be doing the other reading yet, we are going to hold off.  At least since FI is a graphic designer and designed them himself and we just bought colored paper to print them on, it will be easy to make the change.

Other than that, getting really excited.  I've gone from counting the days and wishing they would pass faster to marveling at the fact that they have passed so fast and I'll be married in just a few days.  We made a grocery list last night and FI turned to me in the middle of it and said, "You know, the next time we do this, we will be married."  :)

To the bolded-Exactly!  This last year & half seemed to pass so slow, but I think back and wonder where all the time went?  I've off work since May 1st (a college professor) and the last 5-6 weeks just zipped by!

What I miss--buying & making things.  For the last 18 months I woke up every morning and spent 20 minutes or so looking for bargains/sales/ideas.  It's all done.  All the crafts are packed up and we are ready to "move in" to our venue.  Now we just wait for the day and write a lot of checks!

I'm going back and forth between being frustrated at all that needs to happen, to being thankful for the people helping. We haven't even thought about flowers - mom's friend offers to do them! So many people haven't RSVPed, but now we're just one short! We don't have to worry about setting up at the venue because we have family taking care of it. We still have to make all the favors, but I just finished folding all the programs. Back and forth stress levels! Mostly FI and I freak out when we realize how not ready for the honeymoon we are. We have plane and train tickets, and he has talked to his bank, but we only have one hotel booked (out of 7 or 8 cities) and I haven't talked to my bank. We also don't have luggage! But it'll all happen and be great. I can't believe how close we are! It's finally here! After 5+ years of dating and 1 1/2 of being engaged, it's so weird to think about actually being married.

  • I am 4 days away from my wedding! June 22nd...I'm trying to keep busy with last minute things so I don't sit and let my nerves get the best of me! I'm so nervous because I hate having all eyes on me!!

I feel you! You are so close!!  Maybe take a few hours in the afternoon and go to a movie.

And I should take my own advice…I try to keep thinking of a new little project to do.  I miss all the crafting (I know, I have a serious crafting disease).  It's like being a kid before Christmas, just too much anticipation/excitement.

I'm the same day as you :) Let me tell you though, escort cards are currently driving me CRA CRA but I think I finally have them figured out. On the plus side, tomorrow is my last day at work... I decided to take a whole week off before my wedding (we live in NC- wedding in PA) and chill with my family before hand.

I am very happy to have ours done.  I was relentless with rsvp's and continuously updated the seating chart on WeddingWire with every response, so doing them only took a hour or so.  But taking the week off is a great idea and you will be so happy you did!

  • I've only got three more days (and 2 hours) at work before I am off for the wedding. This Friday, I'm off to head back to my home town for my bachelorette party on Saturday. Monday back in the office. Tuesday is a day long meeting (that I actually enjoy). And then I'm on vacation. Since we have everything pretty much done, I currently plan to spend next Wednesday doing laundry, vacuuming, and drinking wine. Family will start arriving Thursday, so I'm gonna need it.

  • I'm finishing up last-minute details. I knew I would have this whole week and next, so I put off a few little things just to not have to deal with the stress of them during the school year and knowing I would need things to work on so I didn't go crazy here at fiance's parents' house. ;)

Today I'm finishing the seating chart and escort cards, finishing up my beaded headband, and going over honeymoon plans again. I was hoping to chalkboard spray paint the lids of some glass bottles we are using for our 'coffee bar', but it's pouring.

Oh, I'm thrilled to take the whole week off!! My seating chart only took me about 3-4 hours while I was working as well. It was the actual design of escort cards taking me forever. I had a headache after those text messages with my dad lol... but I have a lot of last minute details to do:

dress fitting, cake meeting, final count, salon day (10-3 wednesday to get my hair perfect), and pick up dress along with usual wedding stuff.

UGH It's calling for 80% thunderstorms on our day!! Thank god my wedding isn't outdoors, but boy there goes a bunch of photos..

  • We've got a 70% chance of thunderstorms here.  But yesterday it said 80 and sunny for the 28th.  So I'm in the "it's still too early to tell, wait a few more days" camp on relying on weather predictions.

Too true.  It has changed 3 times in the last 24 hours for our area.  Heck, they usually have it wrong for the current day.

  • Can't believe it's 5 days!!! 25 months felt like a lifetime, but in 5 little days all of our efforts will come to fruition ladies!

I am so excited, but stressed at the same time.  I changed jobs last minute and have been away from my FI for almost 5 weeks now in a city several hours away.  It's been hard to be apart from him for this long so close to the wedding and I'll see him thursday night.  Still, I think it will make our wedding that much sweeter once we are finally together!

I haven't had much help from my bridesmaids so it's been me and my mom mostly which kind of took a toll on me, but once I finally talked to them about it they kind of had a realization that they haven't been around and are helping with final touches today.  I'm so ready for our honeymoon to Jamaica though.  I'm not leaving the beach and I'll always have a drink in my hand!

Can't wait.  Congrats to June 28th brides, we did it!!!

P.S. Congrats to all brides, this is such an exciting time!

It definitely will make the wedding that much more special! I'm with you on the honeymoon (but in the Bahamas).

Well, now that we are close enough that the forecast is pretty decently accurate (2 days!), I'm looking at 90 degrees and mostly sunny.  While I'd rather it not be quite that hot while I'm wearing 3 layers of wedding dress and a floofy slip, I'll take it over rain any day.

Good thing our DOC is setting up water stations for the guests at our outdoor ceremony!

  • 50% chance of thunderstorms for me. Great....Especially in a town that is already flooded.

I can't believe it's two days to go! We're pretty close to being reading, but we haven't made the favors yet. That'll be today. And the reception hall is really slow in responding, so I don't have a diagram of how things will be set up yet.

But it's all going to be great and I'm going to have a good time no matter what happens.

  • Our basement flooded in the rain we got earlier this week, and the plumber can't get out until tomorrow because so many basements are flooded. Because that's what I need this weekend.

But less than 48 hours now. :-)

  • I had a crew over at the venue today.  It took 3 trips in our large van to get all the stuff there (yikes)--but that included the alcohol/drinks and food for cocktail hour and the ice cream bar.

We pretty much got done what was on my schedule, but the all the time intensive stuff is complete (chair covers/ties/linens--etc.)  Tomorrow I have even more staff and all the details will be in place.

I had a blast setting up today…so much that I forgot to eat!   That goes with a diy wedding I guess.

  • I hope you all have beautiful days but try not to let the weather and/or forecasts bother you.  Our weather is notoriously iffy in June and we had no idea what was going to happen.  10 days out weather looked great, 9 days out terrible, 8 days out ugg, etc...  I became a slave to the weather app.  The two days before our wedding it poured nonstop and the forecast still looked cruddy.  Day of the sky was overcast and I even felt a few raindrops while we were saying our vows but by the time the pictures rolled around the sun made an appearance.

I know I was very lucky but I expended so much thought and energy worrying about something that I had no control over...don't fall into the same trap I did.  You all are marrying your FI and will have your nearest and dearest there to help you celebrate - I pray you all have great days no matter what Mother Nature brings.

  • And my shoulders got a little sunburned at our rehearsal tonight, despite slathering on sunscreen.

Ah well, I'll see if the makeup lady can help tomorrow. And if not, not the end of the world.

But for now, bed time. Congrats to everyone getting married tomorrow. See you on the other side.

  • Well ladies, this is it! Congrats to us all and have a wonderful wedding.
