How terrible would it be?

The charter company we booked to bring our guests to and from the hotel just went out of business. There goes $2k down the toilet. The only other option in my budget is a school bus rental. It will get them to and from safely and will keep them from having to pay for a cab at the end of the night, so there's that. Would you be offended if the transportation provided was a school bus?

    What could be wrong with a school bus?  They're charmingly nostalgic, they have a large capacity, and they're cheap!  I suppose if you had an hour+ ride to the hotel, you might want to spring for a bus with a bathroom, but otherwise a school bus should be fine.  We'll probably wind up using them for our wedding.

    I love the fact that you're so concerned about your guests you not only had a great first plan, but also a backup plan! So sorry you're out a couple grand though :(

    I'm with annathy, I'd be into the idea of being on a school bus after having a blast at your wedding and probably being buzzed. I would also be very appreciative of you for providing ANY transportation at all.

    Thank you.  I'm pissed about the money but it's paper, I'll make more.  I'd feel horrible if one of our guests got hurt on the way home or got a DUI (limit is .05 here).  I just can't afford another shuttle.

    omg! I'd have so much fun piling into a school bus with my cousins and parents at the end of a family wedding. I'd try to start a drunken sing-along. Sounds awesome!

    School Bus is fine. FI for some reason really sticks his nose up at school bus transport (he is strongly opinionated about the weirdest things). But really, I don't care what it is as long as it means I don't have to drive.

    I would think it's ok, but don't load it to capacity. School bus seats are small as hell, and tall people (such as moi) literally can't sit normally in them. If the bis isn't stuffed to capacity, then the tall folks can stick thier knees in the aisles.

    I am taking them to small claims court. Let's face it though, if they don't have the money to stay in business I doubt I'll get to the front of the line when it comes to their creditors. When they file bankruptcy by the time it comes to paying back deposits they'll be out of money.
