Wilkes-Barre Reception Venues

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have ideas for a wedding reception venue in Wilkes-Barre, PA that is cheaper than the hotels?  I am in need of a venue that is actually IN Wilkes-Barre and not the surrounding areas.  With a 10K-ish budget, the advertised wedding reception venues are not realistic.

    Does it have to have a W-B address? What about Memorable Occasions in Duryea or a Touch of Class in the Parsons section of W-B? Also the Church of St. Maria Goretti has a banquet hall.

    Maybe Kings or Wilkes has a space that can be rented? Or the American Legion?

    Have you thought about using a legion? The one in Swoyersville is gorgeous, and there's a lot you can do in it to make it perfect (my brother had his reception there- if you're interested, I have pics. of the reception that I can show you), otherwise you're kind of stuck with the hotels if you're dead set on having it in Wilkes-Barre. My FI and I booked Genetti's, which is more reasonable than the Woodlands and places like that. With tax and gratuity, it's $59.22 pp. The minimum is 110, but the coordinator is totally willing to work with you if there's a few less than that. Our budget is 12,500, so I think this definitely would be doable for you guys if you can get cheaper favors. Florists are also willing to give much cheaper prices if you say you're willing to pay in cash, so there are definitely ways you can make it work! :)
