Wedding gift for your FI

Are you planning on giving a gift for your FI? If so, what will it be and when do you plan on giving it to him?

Re: Wedding gift for your FI

  • I thought of getting him something small.  I found a vintagey Teton sewable patch that he could put on his climbing pack.  He loves the Tetons.  It's like $5 on eBay.

  • I've been set on doing a boudoir photo shoot and giving him a book with the pics either the night before or the night of our wedding. The current state of our budget is making me rethink that however :-/. If I'm gonna do it I'd prefer not to do it on the cheap, so we'll see how the next few months treat us financially.

I think I'm going to get him a nice watch.

  • I think I am getting him a "Bubble Hockey" table.  It's not the romantic gesture I had envisioned, but since he's a big kid, it's what he'll get excited about.

I am open to suggestions tho!
  • we aren't getting each other anything!  really no need to...we have pretty much everything we need!
  • I am thinking of getting him a nice watch. We'll see how the budget stands though closer to the date.  We haven't really talked about getting each other gifts either except that we'd look at it closer to the wedding.

    Anniversary
  • I had my boudior photos taken back in October so I'm going to give him an album. I'm so excited!

Not sure when to give it to him though. The night before or after the wedding. He's going to be staying at a hotel with his family/friends the night before and I don't think I want it to be around other people.

  • We aren't planning to give each other anything for the wedding. We are paying for a lot of stuff for the wedding so we don't think it is in our budget to give each other something.

  • If we exchange gifts it will be something small... however, I am making one of these for him/our new home and would like to give it to him at the rehearsal dinner as a surprise:

Vertically I am putting our new last name (his) and horizontally I am intertwining "Andrew loves Kate" using the letters of his last name... which works out really nice.  I purchased the letters through the actual game company (Hasbro) for $6 and got a frame on sale at Kohl's for $5.  Only thing left is a nice color mat for the background.

this is what i am doing too! i want it to be something meaningful and special, and something he can wear the day of the wedding. fiance actually suggested that i do this. he wants to get me some type of jewelry i can wear the day of and surprise me with it - makes me a little nervous but i am sure it will be beautiful, whatever it is :)

we will probably do the exchange the morning of our wedding. might have my MOH deliver it to him with a note to him. we are not doing a first look so won't be seeing each other at all until i walk down the aisle, so our notes to each other will be our only communication that day :)

    Ditto on all counts!

As for boudoir, I know you can do lingerie or you could just do t-shirt/undies kind of thing. I have two friends that did it. One did full on lingerie (and she went a bit all-out on it, because she got lingerie from each of us during her bachelorette party) and the other did more of a "I'm wearing your t-shirt and wearing boyshorts, isn't that cute" kind of thing. Both were really pleased with the way the photos turned out and apparently it's very empowering.

However, there is NO CHANCE IN HELL I am doing it myself! I have body image issues and could never be comfortable enough to take pictures even in a t-shirt and underwear.

  • I honestly hadn't even thought about it.

He gets to marry me - that's enough of a gift, right? ;-)

If I do - it'll be something more sentimental - rather than glitzy.

Nope it was not awkward, it was actually a lot of fun!!!! I went to a photographer that a lot of ladies recommended. She was young and very friendly. I was allowed to wear as many outfits as I wanted. She helped me pick which ones to wear, I brought a ton with me! It was actually a great confidence boost for me.

A lot of boudior photographers will limit how many outifts you can wear, how long the session is, how many pictures you're able to get on a CD, if you're able to get an album or not, etc. It also depends on the price you are willing to pay.

  • I cant even decide what to get FI for Valentines day next week, so something like that has not even crossed my mind.
I remember kidding with him at one point I wanted a coach purse. And oh yeah, I had the idea to buy him lions tickets, so we could go see a football game together next season. We'll see how prices go this year, im afraid they will be super expensive- but he'd love to go! Nows he talking about getting tickets for his groomsmen, so I dont think I could do that for his gift....
