Wedding Insurance?

So my venue told me that I need insurance for the wedding. Our insurance (esurance) said that they do not cover events. Does anyone have experience getting that type of insurance or could recommend where to go? Or how much it usually costs? Thanks!!

Re: Wedding Insurance?

  • I purchased mine through Markel.  It was about $250 for the highest amount of coverage available, event where alcohol served, 120 guests.  Yours could be higher or lower based on who is serving alcohol and how many guests.
  • My venue required this as well. I used WedSafe and I believe it was $175 for a wedding with 150 guests and alcohol. I don't think I got the highest level available, just the level that my venue required. $1,000,000 in damage to venue, 1,000,000 personal injury, 5,000 med expenses, and 5,000,000 general aggregate. I think the price varies on the type and location of venue.
  • I just filled out the application online, paid with a debit card, and had the policy in a few hours. Super easy.
  • Our venue required this as well - $1,000,000 policy. We got ours through AAA - our cars are insured through there so we just did an add on policy. I don't remember exactly how much but it was VERY inexpensive.

  • Thanks ladies! I'll start checking those out. I just seen WedSafe and I wasn't sure if it was legit. I honestly had no clue what insurance could possibly run. $175-250 isn't terrible.
  • My venue accepted WedSafe no problem. It's a offshoot (department? I don't know the right word) of some other bigger insurance company. I think they just use the "WedSafe" name so people can find them. I can't remember for sure, but my venue might have suggested them to me to use. They gave me one name that I can't find now. I'm like 75% sure it was WedSafe and that's how I found them.

We're getting ours through Nationwide. $1,000,000 as well, and it'll be $150.
