Miami hotel recommendations

Hi ladies!

I apologize if this topic has been covered in the past.  However, I've been searching the board and cannot narrow the post search results based on my specific criteria.

Could anyone recommend a nice honeymoon hotel in Miami?  We are looking at the area near South Beach/just north of South Beach (Ocean Drive or Collins Avenue).  Our only absolute necessity is that the hotel be located very, very near the beach.

We are spending the majority of our honeymoon in Ft. Myers Beach, and would like to take a side trip to Miami.  We will only need to stay at the hotel one night, therefore we are able to spend a little extra money on the hotel.

I appreciate any recommendations. Also, since we will be staying in Ft. Myers Beach for the majority of our honeymoon, I am also curious if anyone has recommendations for other towns/locations to visit for a short overnight road trip (besides Miami).

    When we went to miami we stayed at Fontainebleau. I loved it.

    Like PP said, Fontainebleau is great!  We have also stayed at Loews and the Gansevoort and liked both.  The Ritz also looks really nice but I have not stayed there.
