Bridal showers

Do most brides have bridal showers?  Who makes them and who is invited?  My daughter had an engagement party, she will be having a bachlorette party, if she has a bridal shower also, when should it be plannned for.  She is getting married July 2010.

Re: Bridal showers

  • Yeah, what stage said.Showers are usually held 4-6 (sometimes 8) weeks before the wedding. She needs to be registered for gifts if she has a shower, because the point is to "shower" the person with gifts. Like all pre-wedding parties (engagement, bachelorette), it's bad etiquette for the bride to host it herself. Usually a member of her wedding party will chose to host it, though a friend can do it. Personally, I don't think it's terrible for a relative to do it, but some people might. It's a nice gesture to ask the bride what kind she wants (some have themes like honeymoon showers, or lingerie showers). Also, the host should tell the bride about how many guests she can invite and the bride can then give her a list of guests - all of whom also get invited to the wedding.

  • what happened to the other comments? Both the ones I see are referencing Stage and MsMery but I don't see them. I'm very curious about this topic, I think I know what's what but just wanted confirmation.
  • Those users have left the boards, and their posts have been deleted.

  • Yes most bridal take bridal showers.
  • Stage deleted her account, so all her posts are gone.  Ms Mery is the first poster.

This post is 5 years old.  Why did you feel the need to revive it?
  • um, wow yet again, I searched for bridal shower threads. Sorry it bothers you so much.

Since this thread is so old and posts are missing, it def makes sense to start a new thread on this topic if you need further guidance. A great board to ask this question is the Etiquette board, as they will give you the info you need about not only the custom, but details on when showers are proper and how they should be properly hosted.

@KnotPorscha‌ - might be best to close this thread out!
