So, we lost my grandma in December, one month from my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. My grandpa thought, at 79, he would never remarry and had no real desire to meet anyone new. He found out really quickly that being by himself was much more boring than he thought, so, in April, my uncle set my grandpa up on a dating website! My technologically impaired grandpa started talking to a lovely woman. She came to meet him in May, he went to visit her last month and met her family. The kicker?
My grandpa left today to marry his new love!
He's like a little boy! He's almost giddy over her, it's adorable. I have to tease him a little, because she's 69, a "younger woman" - and her mother is still living! I tease him about having a MIL again, when he hasn't had one in 20 years! He left today, they're getting married on the 18th, he won't be back until late Aug, and she'll be coming back with him! My dad and stepmom aren't fully supportive, but they'll get over it. I'm happy she makes my grandpa happy.
