when she proposes to him

Hey all.I was just wondering if anybody here had experience with (in a m/f relationship) a woman proposing to a man, or if you were planning on doing it yourself/had a friend that did it.It's an idea I entertained in my relationship, but it came out that proposing was an event/milestone my SO was looking forward to, and I didn't want to yank the carpet out from under him, so to speak.  :DBut sometimes I still think about how I might propose -- what about you ladies?  If you were going to propose to you SO, how would you do it?  Classically romantic?  Something geeky and personal?  Does how you would propose differ from how you'd want to be proposed to?

The thought of proposing to my bf has actually never crossed my mind, so I wouldn't even know how I would go about doing it.I do know a couple of girls though who really wanted to and they ran into the same situation you did, the guy really had his heart set on doing it so they abandoned the idea.

Since my bf is the more laid back one in the relationship I'm normally the one doing the stuff like that. I asked him out, I said I love you first (after a year and some months), and so on. I see no problems with the girl asking the guy, but since I've done all the asking previous I'm going to let this one be up to him so I know he is ready and since I think he wants to be the one to ask. Anyhow, I've always thought it would be cool to put a proposal on a movie ad; as in before the movie. If I wasn positive he would not think it was awkward I would ask at one his family functions to share it with family. He thought I was about to ask him recently. I had gotten him a little glass airplane on a trip since he loves airplanes, and the airplane opened up. He was like "theres nothing inside this is there?" and looked all nervous. lol. That would've been a neat idea though if he would have been for the girl asking.

i actually did propose to my boyfriend...twice...and he turned me down both times. he said he wants to be the one to do the asking. the first time it was right after a nice dinner. the second time it was when were cuddling on the couch watching a movie [a favorite past-time of ours]. i'm not really whole-heartedly disappointed that he turned me down. i've always kinda of dreamed about what it would be like to be proposed to and i'm greatly looking forward to it.i dont really care how he proposes, i'm sure it'll be special no matter what....as long as it's not at a sporting event...or he's drunk...or both... ;)

this happened to a friend of mine. in front of alllllll our friends. he said yes because he felt pressured. she dumped him a few months later (after almost 5 years of begging him to propose - i mean this girl was desperate) and promptly got knocked up by, and engaged to, some new guy she met, within about a month. aaaaaaaawesome.

XD  I actually think a pepperoni proposal would work on my brother if his girlfriend tried it.  The road to his heart goes directly through his stomach.I think I'd probably go the "whoa overcomplicated" route if I was the one proposing.  I don't think he'd like to be the proposee for a down-on-on-knee type thing.  But if I did a scavenger hunt, or wrote a tiny video game to play through with the proposal at the end, I think he'd appreciate something like that.  Something elaborate but not public, if that makes sense.Whereas I think, for myself, I'd think that kind of thing was neat, but the totally traditional down-on-one-knee proposal would be great, too.
  • I proposed to him just over a week ago (June 28, 2014)! I was much more nervous than I thought I would be but I wanted it to be somewhat casual and definitely without others around. I had planned to do it in August while on vacation, but figured, why wait. Then I was going to do it in a local park while on a bike ride, but I got too nervous. I ended up asking him after dinner while we were sitting out on the deck, sharing a fancy beer and cigar :) We were sitting beside each other, no down on one knee stuff...lol. He said yes (actually he said "sure")!

I did propose with a ring, but unfortunately it's too wide and the etsy vendor I bought it won't do an exchange after 7 days, so we will have to get him another ring. The ring will be his wedding band.
