Completely AW- my craft project is actually working!

I'm not crafty. I love craft projects but usually screw them up so badly that they're unusable. However, I got a bit obsessed with @wabanzi's topiary shortly after joining TK and decided I had to do it.

I'm doing a matching pair but have only completed the first one. The second one is halfway done- I have most of the flowers made but haven't added them yet. I still need to get fancy planters and add ribbons, etc. but I'm super-excited about how they've turned out. I've also made pomanders/kissing balls (what's the difference?) out of the flowers for the flower girls to carry. If I have time/paper, I'll make some extra pomanders to decorate the ceremony site.

So excited!
ETA: the pictures looked better on my phone last night. Sorry!

  • A lady I used to work with loved making paper flowers. She ended up making paper flowers for her daughters wedding for everything! Centerpieces, bouquets, bouts., you name it. Very talented.

I thought about doing that. My mom loves real flowers and it's the only thing she's really pushed on for the wedding. I'm having fresh flowers for centerpieces for our centerpieces and bouquets. It will make her happy.

I think that is a good compromise! In the end, it is only flowers. I will never have the patience for paper flowers though so more power to you.

  • Beautiful!  :)   Nice work!

Thank you for the compliment and I love your work. What a nice post to read after returning from our honeymoon :-) We ended up using the topiaries for the ceremony and reception. Guests kept going up to them and touching, examining, talking about them. So yeah a lot of paper folding (but hey, I also folded a 1000 cranes) but I would do them all over again. Besides, it was a great excuse to re-watch Breaking Bad.

Thank you! There's still more to do, plus more pomanders. But I'm excited!

I may or may not have stalked your TK posts to find this earlier! My first practice flower was not as nice as yours or @wandajune6's, but I think I can manage to get them a little better.
