Need tips to stay awake at work today!

So I am cutting caffeine from my diet and I am finally starting to feel it. Any tips for boosting energy in the office? YAAAAAAWWWWWN!

  • Go for a walk, listen to the Rocky theme music, eat some fruit, brush your teeth (weird, but totally works for me)... that's all I got!

  • Drink super cold ice water.  Chew gum.  Get up and stretch/walk around.  Get some fresh air.  Go to the bathroom and take a 15 minute snooze in the stall.

That's all I have.  When I start getting tired (also around the same time I start to get a headache from staring at a computer screen all day) I pop two Excedrin because of the caffeine...but since you are nixing caffeine that really doesn't help.

  • Lots of water and fruits. The natural sugar in the fruits will probably help.

I cut caffeine one year for Lent and had a migraine for two weeks because I'm so dependent on caffeine.

  • I agree with the PPs.

If you're going to snack, go for something with texture or a bold flavor. Spicy, crunchy, or sour could be good. Something that gives you a bit of a jolt.

  • Play some techno music and eat an apple - they're supposed to be as good as a cup of coffee for keeping you awake (better, when you consider there's no crash), between the natural sugar and slow-burning vitamins.

  • Fresh fruit and spicy foods will naturally boost your metabolism which should help you wake up. Sucking naturally causes the release of adrenaline. So drink water through a straw or have a hard candy if you like those. I liked clove hard candy sticks to suck on when I gave up caffeine
  • Does your workplace have stairs? I usually run up and down a couple flights of stairs when I'm starting to get sleepy.

  • Drink water, but in a smallish cup. That way you have to get up to refill it on a regular basis, so you take a little walk. It's great for waking yourself up, but it boosts my mood too.
