Weisman Art Museum wedding

Has anyone planned or been to a wedding at the Weisman Art Museum?

My fiance and I are strongly considering the Weisman Art Museum for our ceremony and reception, but I'm concerned the space will be too big. We're planning on doing a ~100 person cocktail reception (i.e. no seated dinner) on a Friday night, and the Riverview Gallery would be the perfect space - except that they don't allow you to have the DJ and dance floor in that gallery (because of the wood floors, apparently), it has to be in an adjacent room. I'm worried that the two rooms combined will be too big, and the dancing will be awkwardly separated from the rest of the space.

Is anyone planning a wedding there, or been to a wedding there? Do you think it would work for our purposes, or should we keep looking? I love the space so much, but I don't want it to end up being awkward.

    Could you have your ceremony in the Riverview gallery and then have the cocktail/dancing aspect in the other room?  From the pictures I saw on Flickr it looks like the room could open up and adjoin with the room the dancing is in.  If it's not completely separated and pardoned off, I think it would be just fine!  Some may not want to dance and may prefer the quieter Riverview gallery as opposed to the dancing room anyways...good to have options!  Sorry if that sounded like rambling

    No, that's helpful, thanks! It does adjoin - there are sliding doors that open up between the two rooms. I think we are going to do the wedding there. It's probably a bit too big, but the space is so pretty that we'll just figure it out.

    IMO - better more than enough than not enough space but also - guests will adjust for whichever option you decide to do!!!

    One of my bridesmaids had her wedding/reception at the Weisman and it was beautiful!  She did do a seated dinner and a cocktail hour in the room you're describing which flowed into the smaller room with the dance floor. I don't think it'd be too big for what you're planning on doing.  She also had around 100 guests. Are you still planning on serving food/passed apps?  Even though you're not serving dinner, you might want to consider having a mix of standard tables for people to sit at (such as grandparents) and cocktail tables.  I've attached a picture I have that shows a little bit how she decorated it and how the space looks when filled. She definitely filled the space up completely, but I think that it was a little cramped.  Having fewer tables than what's pictured will allow for more flow and movement through the space.
