Getting married in Vegas...what to do after the reception?

Our wedding is in October of this year and the reception is more of a lunch than a dinner, so we are going to have a block of time before it’s night to go and do stuff in Vegas. Now my question isn’t so much what is there to do in Vegas, cause I have been there many times…my question is what should we do/where should we go while we are dressed in our finery? My FI and I want to spend as much time as we can in the dress/tux, so we need to find places in Vegas to take pictures and just do stuff. I am spending so much on a dress I only get to wear once, I want to make it last as long as possible! Also, Vegas is a place where you can wander around in a wedding dress and no on really will think twice about it.

One idea I have is he and I go to Shark Reef, because I *love* aquariums and sharks…and so we’d have who ever wanted to come with from our families and friends take pictures while we find different stuff to do. I just am looking for ideas of neat places we can go to, so hopefully the brides here can help me out with this?

What about the DDB? That way you can hit multiple places and your guests could be included. Or just bar hop :)

  • That High Roller ferris wheel is pretty cool.  The rides are cheaper in the afternoon and you can fit around 30 people (or more for a tight fit) in each "pod."  It's about a half-hour ride and you get some amazing views.  Plus, there's a bar open right before you get on.  I bet you'd have some drinks bought for you! :)

  • Shark Reef and High Roller are great ideas. If you're looking for photo ops, the sign is a classic. If you're at Mandalay anyways for the Shark Reef, see if you can't get into the Foundation Room at the top of the tower. Try NYNY's roller coaster if you're into rides - that could be a hilarious picture. Literally taking the plunge. Ethel M's cactus gardens are really pretty. And you can see the chocolate being made. Not sure if you'd have enough time to get out and back though.
  • Those are some good ideas...I dunno about the DDB, we only have 30something people coming and probably not all of them would want to follow us around and partake in the goofiness. I was considering the rollercoaster as well, that would make for a fun picture for later. May just end up walking down the strip and taking random pictures.

Neither of us are big drinkers and only a few friends really do partake so probably not bar hopping.
  • You could do the zipline at fremont or the rio!

  • Mirage has the Dolphin and Wildlife Habitat.  I love the High Roller idea.  Zipline sounds fun too, they also have on on Fremont St.  Also the rides at the Stratosphere.  Venetian has the Gondola Rides and Madame Tussauds.  You could go to the top of the Eiffel at Paris too.
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

  • OOH!!!  Yes!! Gondola ride is a GREAT idea!  Plus, you can get some awesome pics all over the Venetian property.  It's very close to The Linq also, where the High Roller is, if you decide to do that.  All walking distance.  Across the street from Venetian is Mirage, so you could get some pics in front of the volcano and there is a gorgeous waterfall on the walking path in front of The Wynn Hotel that would make an excellent backdrop for pictures as well.  It's right next door to Venetian/Palazzo.  You can do your own Strip Photo Tour without even having to hire transportation!

  • The gondola ride is probably going to be for sure, our reception is being held at Canaletto's in the Venetian. Those are great additions dbacksgirl, all within walking distance of the Venetian! Yes it would be nice not to have to hire transportation. Our guests should be booking the rooms we reserved at Harrah's so they can easily walk back to their hotel after the reception/strip photo tour.

The High Roller sounds like a fun photo spot.
  • It is really cool!  Here's a pic I took about a week ago when we were half way up to the top.

By the way, which day in October are you getting married?  I'm on the 17th and our ceremony is at the Venetian. Maybe I'll crash your reception.  LOL!!!
