Photographer price range

What is the general price range for a photographer for about 8 hours of coverage, including a picture package, edits, etc?? We are trying to book one asap since we are 6 months out (short engagement) and I see prices and think well, that could be reasonable but maybe its expensive. We just need to book one quick since we are short on time, but I don't want to sacrifice quality for time constraints.

Thanks! :)

Re: Photographer price range

  • This can vary based on a lot of factors:
    -Location (Major city/Small town)
    -Skill/Experience of the photographer
    -Package contents

A professional photographer can range anywhere from 2k to 10k respectively.
Where are you located and how important is the photography to you?
  • Prices vary depending on location. Even then, the prices vary a lot- it's very much a get what you pay for business with the exception of the rare up-and-coming photographer who is building their own business.

In the Boston area, which is where I am located, average starting packages are between $1500 and $4k.

Ask your local board- ask them what they paid for their photographer.
  • I agree with PPs. Prices were about $1K to even $10K here in San Francisco.
  • I wish I could find someone with little experience for $1,000. I'm probably going with someone who has only done two weddings, and she wants $1800. It's making me die inside.

  • A $1000 day of coverage will probably be a few hours of service and maybe a DVD of some pictures. You need to look at PPA and WPPI websites to look for professionals, or if you love a friend's picture from their wedding ask who they hired. Call the photographers and have them send you something to see what packages are offerred. Best of luck!
