questions planning a honeymoon last minute...

we are finding trouble in planning a honeymoon for the end of september....or at least after september 17th.  Originally, I wanted to go to Greece and Istanbul but prices are too high at least online. we found some online packages for Virgin vacations but not sure if it is a great idea since hotels are included I am afraid they may not be good :/  I read on the Knot that it is recommended to find a travel agent. However, I am looking for advice from people who already did they honeymoon plans or know how to do it.
as you can see from my post, I am very overwhelmed now and confused
so should we change the destination to be able to have a better package?
how do we get a good travel agent if it makes things better?
any destinations that may have good prices for those dates that we should really consider?

any advice will be greatly appreciate it
thanks!!!

Where are you traveling from? For how long? What is your budget?

Unfortunately, when going to Greece toward the end of September, you may find that a lot of the island resorts are shut down for the season. So, you may have better luck with sticking to Turkey.

It sounds like you don't have that much experience in planning trips, and while knotties who have done it on their own can give you some ideas, they can't really be there to help you along the entire process. So, finding a travel agent who specializes in Greece or Turkey can help! You can Google "Greece travel specialists" or some knotties can give personal recommendation on who they have used. Finding a good travel specialist will save you time and aggravation, especially since you are down to the wire!!!

Prices usually drop significantly for Greece end of September-my best friend goes to her grandparent's place every year in mid-September because it's cheaper (but Jells is right, many resorts are shut down). You may have better luck looking at Guest Houses and Air BnB type spots, but I'd think airfare wouldn't be too bad then. Try flying to Istanbul-flights are usually cheaper to Istanbul than other places in that region-and then flying from Istanbul to Athens or elsewhere (I've flown directly into Athens but I've also flown to Istanbul, seen the city, and then flown Istanbul to Izmir, and taken a shuttle from Izmir to Kusadasi and taken a ferry to Samos...if you're willing to do some treking, it can be a fun way to go).

You need a travel agent!  If you PM me, I will share my on line agent with anybody.  He has booked my last five cruises, and saved us lots of money.  (No, I don't get a cut from him!  I just like him a lot, and I want him to stay in business.)
Last minute vacations can be the best!  We jumped on our Hawaii cruise with less than two months to go, and paid peanuts for a balcony suite cabin.

PS.  ALL on line travel sites (Expedia, Orbitz, VacationstoGo, Priceline) are TRAVEL AGENCIES!!!  If you use one to pay for or plan your vacation/honeymoon, you are using an anonymous travel agent.  I prefer using someone you can talk with and ask questions.  Travel agents are paid by the resort or cruise line.  There is no cost to you to use one.

my husband and I did  Mediterranean cruise last month for our honeymoon.  While we stopped in Italy, France, and Spain as well, Greece and Turkey were my main priorities.  We just LOVED it...the cruise was nice because we could go many places without packing/repacking bags all the time.  Our ship has some really wonderful excursions that helped us see the best of the cities/islands plus we didn't have to worry about spending a ton more on food as it was included.  Also, the Mediterranean was very smooth in my opinion, I never felt the boat moving.

We're HMing in Florence, Italy at the end of September. We found decently priced flights and we rented a small cottage on Airbnb.

Oh! I went to Argentina in 2012 in late August-it was extremely affordable (1500pp flight + a great hotel). I don't think it would be that much more expensive in September/October timeframe. We loved it there, ate great food, and drank amazing wine. Tango and theater would be fun honeymoon activities.
