This irritates me

The media always ask "can women have it all?". There are debates and discussions about this all the time. I don't get it! No one can really have it all so why all the focus on women. Just once I would love to hear someone talk about if men can have it all.

It's a stupid question anyways. Can someone be a stay at home mom and a full time CEO? No! Unless they have found a way to clone themselves or have 48 hours to the day, there is no way you can have both. What we need to drop is this idea that it is the woman's job to be that stay at home parent. Dad can stay home if mom's career is so important and she should NOT be shamed for that decision! And actually- I'm a little surprised that men haven't piped up at this point and said, "What are we, chopped liver?" because they are just as capable at raising children as women are.

  • It bugs me too. There is no "all." Life is about balance, for men and women. Sometimes your career takes center stage; sometimes your family does. But you can't do everything well all the time. It's like asking if I can have a job where I make a ton of money but don't work very hard. No, probably not!
  • Really it doesn't matter what a woman's version of "all" is anyway because there are always people who want to make you feel guilty about it. How many times have we heard stay at home moms called lazy or that working moms don't care as much about their kids or that there must be something wrong with women who don't want children. It's like no matter what you choose in the media's eyes you lose.
  • Shit like this just makes me want to have all the wine.

It's Friday. We all deserve all the wine.

  • I fucking hate hearing this shit. It's the dumbest fucking thing ever, because like you said no man is asked if he can have it all.

I remember watching Wendy Williams one day, and usually I like Wendy, she's my kind of girl (I thought she was a drag queen at first but then I figured out she just wore a lot of make up and had plastic surgery), but this day she was talking about how Chelsea Handler said in an interview she doesn't want kids. And Wendy said that "makes her sad", Wendy has a son. Loves her son. Fantastic. Chelsea has nieces/nephews and loves them, but doesn't want any of her own...and that's sad? Why?

What would be sad is if Chelsea had kids she didn't want because society told her she was less then as a woman because she didn't fill her uterus with babies. That'd be sad for her and for the kid(s).

No one cares about men who don't have/want kids. Seth Rogan said he didn't really want kids. No one thought that was sad. He's allowed to not have kids. He's allowed to work long hours, or not clean his house, or whatever the fuck else he wants because he's a man. That's his privilege.

  • I honestly just drown out the media as soon as they start talking about bullshit like this.
