Uneven Wedding Party

I am having 4 bridesmaids, 2 junior bridesmaids, and 4 flower girls. My groom is having 4 groomsmen and 1 ring barer. How would I set that up to make it look good and not disproportioned? I am stuck and frustrated.

Re: Uneven Wedding Party

  • Your photographer will take care of that. It won't look weird or unbalanced. Also, your flower girls and ring bearers won't be standing up front with you, they'll be seated.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Let the bridesmaids walk with the grooms men or the alternative they walk separately but during the recessional exit in pairs.

The girls don't all have to be flower girls. They can be mini brides. They can walk and throw petals, they can have ribbon wands, they can carry signs, they can walk with a bible or book of preference. It will look balanced because it's portraying different things..

For pictures you can put the boy in the middle and two girls on his left and on his right
    Hope this helped some
    Good luck!!

What's the point of this instead of making someone a flower girl or ring bearer?  The kid and/or his or her parents will still feel like a second-class wedding party member.

This whole wedding party sounds ridiculously over the top.  What were you thinking?  There will be 17 people in your wedding party, including yourselves.  Four flower girls?  Sheesh!  It's a wedding, not a Broadway production.  JMHO.

My sister had around 17 people in hers. It looked like a circus act.

It's stupid, IMO. I was so glad we didn't have one. I don't really get it either.

What's the difference between flower girl and mini bride?
A flower girl can wear any nice dress and carry and/or scatter petals going down the aisle.

A mini bride is a little girl dressed like the bride: veil, dress, bouquet, etc. and is supposed to portray a miniature adult.
  • You think you have problems...I have 4 bridesmaids and the groom has 9 groomsmen! I added a 5th so that's...a little better...
  • The sides don't need to match or be even. If you are worried about how the WP will walk fown the aisle, you could always just have two of your bridesmaids / junior bridesmaids walk together. Or even have two of the groomsmen escort two bridesmaids. A good photographer will know how to keep photos looking balanced.

Although I must say, 4 flower girls sounds like a giant PITA. I have never been to a wedding where the flower girls or ring bearers didn't have some sort of issue. Children may look sweet and adorable all dressed up, but they are still children and should be expected to behave as such.
  • I was in a wedding that had that many, even I think a few more come to think about it. She had 10 BM, there were 5 gm, and I think there were 6 kids for flower girls/ring bearers. It did not look like a circus act and the kids were all well behaved. The kids left the ceremony (a full Catholic Mass) a little early so they could be blowing bubbles when the couple exited. It was a beautiful and lovely wedding.

Don't worry about the uneven numbers. The kids don't need to be escorted. The junior bridesmaids can either go down and back up alone, and the 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen pair up, or you can treat the jr. bridesmaids like full bridesmaid and have some of the groomsmen double up, which is what was done at the wedding I was in. Just make sure at the rehearsal you note how wide the aisle is, sometimes 3 across is a little tight.

That is one of the creepiest things I have ever heard. Do people actually do this?! Who would want to have a child bride at their wedding?!?!?!?
