Buy bigger and hope for the best?

This may seem a strange one, so any assistance is appreciated:  I'm looking to buy a dress for my future step daughter for our Oct wedding. She turned 9 in May. Im having a few issues with this atm.

2 of the 3 shops that sell flower girl/party dresses only sell them from Jan-June...so the dress I was hoping to choose will be unavailable soon. (I have no idea why this is...)

Her and her mother are away until E goes back to school so Im limited as to when and what I can buy her.

Should I pick up the dress that caught my eye now in a bigger size? (Its pink with a tulle skirt) or should I wait and hope we can find something closer to the date?

Re: Buy bigger and hope for the best?

  • I think it would depend on how much it costs (for me at least). Less than $50? I might be willing to risk it. $100? I might wait and see what size she is later and get a dress then.
  • I would wait we have the same issue so we are waiting till closer to the wedding!
  • The dress is $50. I think I'll look at the dress tomorrow and speak to a salesperson. Thanks for the advice :)

    SIB:

I see you have decided to purchase the dress.  I was wondering if you have shown this dress to your FSD.  The issue might not be monetary as much as whether your FSD will like the dress.  Obviously no two kids are alike, but I know my 10 year old niece would not be caught dead in anything with tulle.
