OK, did you look at what you were getting before your shower/wedding?

ETA: Sorry there are 2 of the same answer. Apparently I'm poll-illiterate. If you want that answer, pick the first one.

  • It's a struggle, people!!! FH said he would be really mad if I peeked but I did see that 5 gifts have been purchased and I'm DYING HERE!

  • I only checked cos people here talked about Registry Stalking, and it got me thinking about it. I blame all of you!!

I had gotten an email from BBB that an item was being discontinued, so I went on to pick a different brand.  I noticed that some things were purchased and that was about it.  I like surprises so I'm refusing to look!

  • I haven't been back to look at it since we updated the registry before invites were mailed. It got crossed off the list and out of my mind really. Now TK has me curious... lol
  • I have no self control. I checked practically every day.
  • I checked a couple times. I just really didn't care.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Not gonna lie I did check it a few times leading up to my bridal shower. (I hate surprises!) But since then I haven't looked at it. I've been too busy with everything else!!

I did, but it wasn't very interesting. We know a lot of procrastinators. I think there was like one thing purchased more than a day or two out of the wedding that wasn't sent to our house.

  • I never had a wedding registry but I'll answer this (didn't click anything above) when I had my baby registry I peeked the sh*t outta that thing. ;)

  • oh, haha- I look all the time.

    No self-control.

But, also- FMIL tells us all the time that we need to add more stuff and we have nothing on there. So I go look and there are, like, 50 items. Not sure what she means by "nothing".

  • I never did. I just didn't think about it...

  • I check occasionally, and feel no guilt whatsoever.  Of course, my wedding is a way off, and I'd be surprised if anyone used it right now....

  • I swore I wasn't going to check, then spoiled some things for myself while going through and making sure nothing was discontinued, not thinking anyone would have shopped yet. After that I was like a moth to a flame. I DID notice one thing where someone had bought the next level higher camp grill than the one we had registered for, so I was able to delete the original one before we got dupes. So I like to convince myself I'm doing people a favor. :-p

  • I have absolutely zero self-control. I actually went and checked after reading the title of this thread, hahaha.

@lolo883, the exact same thing just happened to me with our grill (Awesome!)
  • I went on our registry to add some stuff and got caught up in seeing what people had gotten. I haven't checked since then, though. I'm trying to be good!

  • I have peeked and I will continue to peek because 1) we haven't shared/made public yet and 2) we are buying things off the registries ourselves so

  • We haven't registered anywhere yet and I'm not positive that we will but I was unaware that I shouldn't look.

If we do register, I'm not even going to pretend I won't look.

  • I planned on doing it before (when I was engaged), and I have every intention of doing it the future. I'm shameless. And impatient.
  • Then you have that awkward moment when you see that someone bought something you not only didn't register for, but have no use for at all... and have a week to wait before feigning total happy thankfulness for said item while trying not to make this face, because it's still really sweet of them and it's probably something they think you could really use, and you could probably fake it a little better if you weren't thinking about it for a week...

Now that you mention it, I just did... I will probably peek again before my next shower!
  • I didn't register... so I had no idea what I was getting. :)
  • I have no reason to look this early (our wedding is in October, and most of our guests are procrastinators), but I just can't help myself. I pretty much check everyday. Horrible, I know.

I'm the one who can't wait for Christmas gifts. I snooped many many times as a child, and never really felt good about it either (usually it just made the waiting more difficult), but I couldn't help myself. The impulse still holds strong.

If I go to BBB and buy something off a registry and something else, sometimes that something else will show up on the registry as Requested: 0 Bought: 1. Just because it shows up, doesn't mean you'll get it. It also doesn't mean you won't, so the fear is there.

It shows up as "requested = 0 / purchased = 1." Sure, they COULD have purchased something for themselves in addition to something for me, and not done 2 transactions...but won't know til Saturday.

  • I already know that I will be checking my registry frequently. I already check it because I like to look at the stuff we registered for. FI and I had a blast while registering, so it is nice to remember that day. Lol

  • We haven't registered yet, wedding is not until April 2015, but I snooped as a kid for Christmas gifts and birthday gifts. I can't do surprises.
