Wedding Woes

Morning things

1. DefConn wore pants and a hoodie to the sitter this morning.  It is currently 55 out.  I love this weather.  Summer polar vortex FTW.

2. The kiddo is gone with a friend's family until Friday.  We both need this break.  He's been bored and driving me crazy.  I need to miss him.  ;)

3. DH is not going OOT next week. Woohoo!!

4. I finally got some sleep last night.  I'm still tired, but not as tired.

5. In celeb gossip news: Taye Diggs' new GF and one of my local mom group friends were friends/soroity sisters in college.

Re: Morning things

  • It is also 55* here.  I'm loving having the air off and windows open (later when it's a little warmer) but not loving that I never got to put winter clothes away.  They're all in tubs in our bedroom waiting for the attic, but we can't put them up there.  We were all bundled up last night at the baseball game.

Yesterday was DD2's birthday.  We did CEC for about 40 minutes (got there right when it opened) and then let her pick a restaurant to go for lunch.  I'm so thankful she didn't ask to stay and eat at CEC.

I don't mind CEC pizza.  I don't mind CEC during the day.  Maybe those should be confessions.
  • Two more:

    6. WhyTF are fruit flies so bad this year?  I can't even keep bananas in my house for more than a day. I had to make a trap for them yesterday.  There's about 10 of them in there so far.  Go away effers!

    7. The sitter said that DefConn uttered "What in the hell?!" clear as day yesterday.  Also, everything is 'stupid'.  ::le sigh::
  • 1.  I am in agreement with your assessment of the polar votex, MrsConn.

    2.  I am seriously considering resigning as president and then leaving my group.  The drama is getting under my skin.  I know I take criticism super personally and that I'm not good at letting go of things.  I recognize this and work on it all the time; they aren't really personality traits that are going to just go away.  Having said that, waking up this morning to accusations of censorship and other fun personal criticisms and attacks (b/c of FB drama), well, I'm getting a little tired of it.  I took July off from stuff in hopes of recharging and getting excited.  I've discovered that I'm actually resentful of the time this group is taking and feeling attacked on top of it.

    3.  6, I'm glad you're getting a vacation and your "looking forward to" list is cracking me up.

I'm also kinda glad about polar vortex, since tomorrow is amusement park day (as long as it's not out and out cold)

YAY for kid-free time!  I have some this weekend too.

Varuna, I think some kicks in the head are warrented to your group, regardless of what decision you make.  You do awesome work and people are asses.
  • I wish the polar vortex had made it to Texas - or Canada, for that matter. It was 85* (during the days) the entire time we were in Calgary. We're back in Houston, now, and it was 80* and HUMID at 7am.

I'm sorry V.  Sounds like the group might be taking more than it's giving you right now.

There are other things (I originally mistyped thongs there) I'm looking forward to.  Those are just immediate thoughts.

  • Well, since 6 is thinking about thongs, and vacation, along with the received adult toy story, I'm pretty sure we know what other things are being looked forward to. ;)  :D  and a thumbs up!

You know, I knew it was going to be work.  But at the end of the day, this isn't furthering my professional career and it's not a job.  While being a leader means having a trade-off of fun, it shouldn't be no fun.  And hell, when the woman who was making me miserable at the beginning has turned into an ally re: this latest situation, I just have to look around and think, WTF is going on?  And y'know, maybe this BS is why the group got to where it was.  *shrug*  I'm still giving myself until the end of July, then I'm revisiting if I want to choose or not.

    1.  I was running yesterday morning and thinking "probably the first I'm thankful for the Canadian weirdness".  Random, I know.  Loving the cooler weather.

    2.  We have a bid due at 2pm today.  I'm so annoyed because there was an addendum issued that doesn't really affect anything, but people are like "WAHHHH" so they may push it back.  Which makes me think that it will be for Friday afternoon, which makes me stabby because I want to leave early on Friday.  NO NEEEED to leave early if I want to get up to the cities.  :(  I'm anticipating something that hasn't happened, but still.

    3.  V---those people need a swift slap to the face.
  • 1.My work hours have been condensed to 3 full days a week vs, 2 full days and 2 half days. I am most appreciative of not having to go in for the afternoon today.

    2. On that note, I told a white lie to the doctor I work for this morning. She asked if I could come in at any point today. I told her no because we were meeting with our realtor to discuss putting our house on the market and seeing some houses.

2.5. Which is completely true, it just until later today. I occasionally feel like I might just throw up, both out of excitement and anxiety all at once! We were talking about waiting a couple of years, but interest rates are still so good and the increase in value on our house is great. I really anticipated staying here 10 years, but we are at the point of talking baby #2, and while we have great big spaces to hang out in here, the bedrooms are all small. And having a kitchen that isn't the only path in and out of the living room would be awesome.
