Sign from the universe?

Okay, so the actual picture is anticlimactic because I edited out my name for privacy reasons.  BUT: Fi's work ordered his department lunch today because they were really busy.  Fi was the only person to order a Coke.  The Coke bottle came... and it had my name on it.

He asked everywhere to make sure it wasn't a joke and he was really the only one who ordered Coke.  Yep.  He got the "share a Coke with [JCBride]" totally by chance.  I didn't even know Coke was doing this promo so when he sent me a pic, I thought he had somehow doctored the label and I was really confused.  Nope... just a lucky Coke bottle.

Anybody else had any lucky signs about your relationship/ totally random occurrences that you ascribe irrational meaning to?

  • FI's motorcycle that died and has been problematic ever since the first time we hung out started up and ran without a problem for the entire day exactly a year later lol

That's the most woowoo I can think of for our relationship. That coke bottle coincidence is crazy though!

  • Both DH and I both had cats prior to meeting. His cat's name is Gravy. Mine is Pepper. It's just meant to be.

@Jells2dot0 I remember you telling this story in a furbaby thread and it is just the cutest thing.

  • Nothing exciting except that FI has said he knew he was going marry me since we were in the ninth grade. By the time we started dating senior year, I had already known he was the one before it was official. I guess to us, no signs, no universal interference, just our gut.

I've been searching for a Coke with mine or Fi's name...can't find one, yet.

  • Our whole meeting was totally random. I'm not one to ascribe meaning to things, but it was kismet. It wouldn't have been out of place in a romantic comedy.
  • I can't really think of anything. I'm not sure if we would have ever met if we both weren't geology majors. So I guess geology told us it was meant to be. Yay science bwahaha

  • My favorite story about how we "knew" was within 2 weeks of starting to date and I was "reading" his mind, which we do all the time now.

We were at the grocery store picking up stuff to make dinner at his place.  In the frozen food aisle, we were discussing dessert and if we wanted to get anything.

Him: Yeah, lets get that thing with the thing in the middle.

    Me:  Oh, you mean Viennetta?

    Him:  YES!  That.

There have been other instances of this as well and knowing the answers.

Also, we swing dance - except for my mom who taught me, I've never been able to do it with any other guy I've dated.  He and I are a perfect pairing that way too.

Once, when FI and I were just stating to get serious, I was starting to get a little freaked out about how serious we were getting (the relationship I had before FI was not very good - very controlling, together 6 years, engaged, broke it off 5 months before the wedding, he slept with a student.... yeah, not good) and was contemplating breaking it off before I could allow myself to get hurt again.

Now, I'm the kind of person that likes to talk to my relatives that have passed and ask for guidance (gives me a bit of peace of mind) so I asked my grandma and uncle to give me a sign that I should persevere and not end it. That day, when I went to pick up the mail I got a pamphlet for FI's old private school (an international school) with my junk mail. It was the only one I've ever received (they don't normally spam mail that stuff here) so I took it as a sign. Did I read too much into it? Probably. Am I glad I did? Heck yes, because look where we are now! :P

  • That's so funny! Also, I have the same office phone as your FI. It's sad that I noticed that, right?

I can't really think of anything. But from the very beginning, it was like we could read each other's minds. He knew what I was going to say before I even said it.

@ClimbingBrideNY ha, that is funny!  I always notice stuff like that.  I grew up with the same phone they use in one of my favorite movies, I think Mean Girls.
