People are awesome!

Our friends and family have been so great, especially recently. First, my MOH volunteered to sacrifice a Sunday to help us address invitations. And ever since we sent them out last Thursday I've gotten a bunch of calls and texts telling me how they love the invitations and how they can't wait to see us get married. (My great-aunt commented that ours is the first invitation she's gotten in years that was actually done correctly; I know I have you knotties to thank for that!) We've gotten about a half dozen response cards back and several have little comments written in about how excited they are for us. Checking the mailbox really brightens my day now.

On top of all that, we've already gotten several extremely generous gifts off our registy. These were the kind that we hesitated to put on there because of the price tag and I'm shocked that our guests have purchased them. People are being so awesome!

I've definitely had a few stressful moments recently with the planning and the FMIL but thinking about everyone's kindess has made me feel so much better! So brag on your people knotties; what have they done that's awesome?

Re: People are awesome!

  • I would like to brag on my mom! She seriously is the best! My FI and I live out of state from where our wedding will be and we won't be back till the week before the wedding. My mom has been busy putting everything together for the wedding. She planted flowers at our ceremony site so it would have some color, she's been meeting with the caterer so our food is perfect, she has been busy shopping for all the little things that would make our wedding personal. Seriously, I don't know how I would have planned this wedding with out her. I can't wait to give her a big hug when we go back in 8 days!!!!!

    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • I'll brag on my dad and FI both.

Last week I was taking the dogs out before work and I looked over at my car and saw something sitting on top of it. Turns out my dad had brought me some doughnuts and an antique tea cup. Now, I hate doughnuts with a passion unless they are Britt's Doughnuts at Carolina Beach or chocolate covered with sprinkles. These had sprinkles! Best surprise ever. I also collect antique tea cups. My dad is seriously the most thoughtful person I know. He works third shift so he had brought this stuff to my house when he got home from work (we live one mile apart).

This past weekend was pretty busy for FI and I so my normal Saturday deep cleaning of the house wasn't done. I started doing it after church on Sunday and FI asked me to just relax with him. I'm a very clean and tidy person and I literally feel anxious when I don't have a clean house. FI knows this and offered to clean on Monday for me. I appreciated the offer so I said okay. The thing is, I was very reluctant because I like it cleaned in a particular way and clean places he often forgets. I accepted the offer though because I didn't want him to think I don't appreciate when he does do things like that for me, even if I have to go back behind him. Well I come home from work Monday (FI gets off at 2:30 and I get off at 5:00) and the house is spotless! He got on his hands and knees to clean the kitchen floor, he cleaned BEHIND the toilet, he made up the bed, he cleaned the litter box, he vacuumed the carpets three times, and cleaned the baseboards. It was a sense of ease walking in the house knowing he had put so much work into it.

  • Smichek, he told me he doesn't know how I do it every week and is more appreciative that I do. I enjoy housework though and he enjoys yardwork so it works out. But it eases both our minds that we can each do both if we had to. For example, the first time we mowed the yard at our new house, I was the one who did it and obviously FI can clean well if he has to!

  • You ladies gave me a smile this morning, thank you! I know when I start a story with "people are awesome" it's usually followed with why they are anything but :P
