When to start looking at venues on LI

Hi all! We are recently engaged and not planning on having the wedding until 2016 (May at the earliest) but since its Long Island, I know places can tend to book up pretty quickly. How early is too early to start looking? How far in advance did you start looking at venues and make your pick?

Thanks!

Re: When to start looking at venues on LI

  • It's never too early! I'd say 2016 is starting to book by now. We went looking at venues one month after we got engaged (July 2013), and booked for March 2015 that September. In fact, by the time we booked, only two dates in March were left.

If you book earlier, make a bigger deposit etc.,. you might get a better deal! We're at Fox Hollow

  • Thanks!! That's really reassuring to hear. I wanted to start looking now but was a little afraid I was looking too early when the first place I got in touch with told me they didn't have 2016 prices available yet.

I hadn't looked into the Fox Hollow yet and just did -- it is gorgeous!!
  • Definitely never too early. There are many places people love and there are only 4 Saturdays (okay sometimes 3 or 5) in every month!
