Is there anyway to order a wedding dress in 2 months?

I'm getting married in early October and I don't have a dress yet.

Feel free to chastise me now.

I've been through 4 shopping sessions so far and haven't liked anything I've seen on the rack.

To make matters worse, I am a hard size to fit with sample dresses as I wear a street size 00. Many just can't be altered small enough.

I've been exploring used dresses, and I am not opposed to them. My budget is generous. $3000 and down.

But, I am not seeing any dresses I am interested in, since I prefer dresses that aren't sleeveless. They also can't be backless or have satin.

Is there anyway I can still order something?

I am ready to loose all my deposits and postpone the wedding at this point because I cannot find a dress I like.

I am not comfortable spending money on a dress I don't like.

Please help, any suggestions are welcome.

You really can't order something unless it's from davids bridal. Sometimes, they can get SOME of their dresses in within 2 months. No other designer is likely to get a dress in that fast. You'll likely need to buy off the rack, which is going to limit your choices.

David's Bridal sometimes can order quickly, if you pay extra. Some of their high end dresses are lovely! DB manufactures their dresses in their own factories.

I've been to David's Bridal and found a range of quality. Some dresses looked cheap, others stunningly better made than stores that sell $9000 dresses. Oleg Cassini had some nice ones, but all sleeveless.

I'm really daunted by trying to find something off the rack. Even in a large city like LA, it still greatly limits my choices.

I'm so annoyed by my wedding planner. She prompted me to move the wedding up to late October to secure the venue and now I am ready to forfeit all my deposits.

You might check out stores that cater to LDS (Mormon) brides. They are required to have sleeves. You could also wear a bolero with a sleeveless dress.

Well, even with prompting, it was still your decision. I would take another trip to Davids and do a serious marathon shopping at some salons you haven't been too. You are at a point where you'll need to start alterations soon. So you pretty much need to buy a dress in the next two weeks

I can't help but notice that you said you haven't liked anything you've "seen on the rack." This is probably a dumb thing to say, but just in case it needs to be said, I would urge you to try things on before rejecting them. You really never know.

I couldn't agree more. I was IN LOVE with Vera Wang dresses, it was my must have for my wedding, I needed a Vera Wang dress. I tried most of her dresses on that David's Bridal carries and I HATED them. I loved them on the rack, but hated them on me. I ended up with a Melissa Sweet mermaid dress instead that I love love love, and it was the dress that was on a mannequin when we first walked into the store. When we ordered my dress, I bought it in October/November-ish and they said that it would be in sometime in January, well it came in early December, I want to say 2nd week in December.

It just goes to show, you may or may not like what you see on the rack, but your opinions might change once you try things on.

Have you tried looking at the vintage dress options on Etsy. I know a lot of people on here suggest not using Etsy and I 100% agree when it comes to buying new dresses but for vintage dresses there are a lot of options and the sellers are often really dedicated to making sure that you are happy with your purchase. Reach out to the sellers if they don't list all the measurements etc and ask questions. most will be happy to answer you and send additional pictures.

Vintage dresses offer a lot in the way of longer sleeve, not backless, small dresses and with your budget you should be able to find something. I would say though, that you will want to order in the next week or so so that the person has time to ship it and you have time to get any alterations done that you need.

Not knowing your style, its hard to be more precise in my suggestions. Are there any things you have seen in dresses that you do like (mermaid fit, ball gown, lace, etc)

Look on the preowned wedding dress sites, and yes, consider adding a shrug. A lot of the dresses on these sites that are at really good prices are because they are tiny sizes. That could actually work in your favor.

your best bet at this point is to call salons and see what they have in sample sizes that they are no longer carrying ask them what the smallest sizes they have are and go and try them on and see what looks good explain your time frame to them and what you want added on to it.

you could get lucky and find a salon that has material in shop that they can add to the dress to make it have sleeves

Preownedweddingdresses and tradesy both have some really great options if you're not opposed to used or sample dresses but you would not be able to try it on...I would try searching for some consignment shops in the area, they sometimes have some gorgeous unworn dresses

Lots of good advice here--just popping in to add that vintage shops might be your salvation, especially in LA where I imagine there are some really great places.

I tried on a really pretty beaded dress at J. Crew with cap sleeves. It's very 1920s. I liked it a lot, but I thought it needed more structure in the garment itself--the beads felt very heavy and like they were pulling a bit on the fabric. They also have some sleeved options without beading that weren't available in-store, so you could order them and see if you like them. As long as they're not final sale you can return, I'm pretty sure.
