Not Engaged Yet

I forgot...

... to wear my ring for the first time yesterday. I realized about 10 minutes into my drive to work, and I almost teared up/ kind of felt like bawling. How ridiculous is that?? Has this type of thing happened to any of you before?

Re: I forgot...

  • I haven't forgotten to wear my ring yet, but I just took off my rings (engagement and Order of the Engineer) this evening, put them down ... and promptly lost them.

    But I found them again.

    Phew.
  • I forget my rings a lot but seem to remember them if I'm going to work lol. Probably cause a few of my managers are single and I want them to know I am so not available lol

I lost my engagement ring in the Tupperware of sugar while making spaghetti sauce like a week before our wedding. I thought FI (at the time) was going to kill me. It took almost an hr to find after I retraced all my steps that day (and realized I put sugar in the sauce lol )
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • I've almost forgot my ring, and luckily I noticed on my way out the door. I hate leaving it at home when we hike or kayak but I worry I'd lose or destroy it.

We are ordering a 2nd set of wedding bands made of silicone to wear on adventures so we can always have something on. The thing is like part of my hand, I hate the feeling without it!

I've forgotten my rings (engagement ring on my left, claddagh on my right) a couple of times. My reaction is usually a mixture of irritation and disappointment. Nothing too serious, but enough so that I feel like my day is off to a bad start. And of course, I'm constantly checking for them throughout the day and going, "OH NO MY--oh, right, I left them at home."

  • I've only forgotten mine once, when I took it off to do the dishes between coming home from work and going to have dinner with friends from church. FI wasn't there so I was super self conscious all night, wondering if people were making assumptions about something going on with us. Of course they weren't, but I felt totally stressed out about forgetting it.

  • I've only forgotten to wear mine out of the house once, but it was when we were going to the dog park, so it was probably for the best.

I did get halfway down the stairs on the way to a baby shower yesterday before I remembered I hadn't put it on yet, and bolted back upstairs haha

  • I haven't forgotten it, but I've worn a couple of rings non-stop for years, so my fingers feel really weird without rings on. When I first started wearing my other two rings in college, I almost lost them a few times. One time I left them in a hotel room in Tahoe and didn't realize it until we were halfway down the mountain in the middle of a snow storm. Luckily the maid was able to find them and mail them to me. Oops.

I will say though that I feel super guilty because I dislike my stand-in ring more and more each day. It's ugly and uncomfortable, but it was my mom's ring and she's so excited for me to have it... FI says he's ok if I don't wear a ring at all until mine is ready, but I mean... Engaged! Must wear ring!

  • Yeah, I felt really uncomfortable the whole day. I was in such a rush because it was "presentation day" with the kids, where the parents were coming to see their art work and performance. I got all dressed up, and was a few minutes late, and then ten minutes into driving I wiggled my hand because it had gotten a little tired and it felt wrong!  I looked down, saw the missing ring, and almost cried. Intellectually, I feel like that's so silly, but emotionally... I just couldn't handle it!
  • I forget mine about once a week when I'm rushing to get out the door.  I feel so naked without it.

  • I think I have forgotten mine once after we first got engaged and I felt super awkward all day long. I couldn't wait to get home from work to put it on.
  • I have yet to forget mine for a whole day, however I take it off whenever I go to the barn and have to remember to put it in the cup holder right near my seat or in my change purse in my wallet.

  • I have forgotten to wear my wedding ring exactly once in 2+ years. I hated every second of that day. Meanwhile, DH forgets to wear his about once every two weeks. It annoys the hell out of me, but he doesn't do it on purpose, so I've tried not to get so annoyed with him.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I've forgotten mine twice; once when I left for church and once when I went grocery shopping. Even thought it was only for a couple hours I felt horrible. I hate not having it on and I was embarrassed that I had forgotten it so I was trying to hide my hand like "omg, I don't want people to see my naked ring finger" even though ppl at the grocery store were complete strangers. I'm proud to be engaged to FI and I hated not having anything to show that I was.

  • I haven't forgotten mine yet, but I work from home most days, so there are definitely days when I don't even put it on.

I felt a little strange when I went to get my new phone at Verizon on Saturday, because I couldn't wear it because my hand was swollen, and I was telling the saleswoman about maybe switching to Fios when my fiance moves into my house.

Mostly though, when I do go out somewhere, I have no reason to talk about him to strangers, so it's just missing the object itself, not feeling weird about not having it on.
