seating chart?

Do i need a seating chart for 35 people or just let them sit where ever ?

Re: seating chart?

  • I would do a seating chart. It just makes things easier for everyone. Fi and I went to a wedding with open seating at 1 long table and we ended up having to sit apart because there were odd numbers of groups (ie family of 3, 5 etc).
  • I think it depends on your venue. If you decide to do open seating, you should have 10-15% extra seating in case people leave space between them. We had open seating with 175 guests and it worked out fine - but only because we had 15% extra seating. Without it, I'm sure it would have been a PITA.

You could just assign tables if you don't want to assign exact seats for everyone.

  • I think you should assign tables even with that small number.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I would assign tables.  At least for me, I would just like a little of the guest work eliminated.  It is so much easier to walk in, look at a chart, and sit at the assigned table rather then walking in, standing around wondering where you should sit.

THIS- plus a lot of guests like the certainty and comfort of knowing where to sit.

  • We have 26 coming and one long table.
We are assigning seats, even though its a small group because it allows us to put people who together that will keep the conversation going and have things in common.

  • We had 35 guests and we assigned tables.

  • I very much prefer assigned tables to open seating. I like knowing where I can leave my purse without worrying about taking anyone else's seat.

  • I'd assign tables. Even with a small number of people in attendance people like me will appreciate not having to look for unoccupied seats or "reserved" seats that people wanting to sit together make unavailable to everyone else.
  • I prefer assigned tables.
