The Knot Wedding Venues

I am on the west coast of FL and I noticed the two nicest venues we were looking at in the Tampa bay area were not listed on this website. In addition there are a couple of venues that I cannot believe a couple would want to use.

Are the listings on the Knot only paid advertising ? If so where can we find a comprehensive list, not just which venue is desperate and Needs to advertise.

Yes, people pay to advertise. I wouldn't say the venues who advertise are necessarily desperate, though. Zillions of businesses advertise.

I'm pretty sure venues pay to be listed on TK.

Your attitude about advertising is a little counterintuitive. How else are you supposed to find them if they don't advertise anywhere?

WeddingWire.com also keeps a pretty good list of venues, but again, it's advertising. They are great for finding vendors, not so great for etiquette advice.

Yeah, TK is all paid advertisers (although I believe they do take user reviews into account for the "Best of" lists, so that may be more useful than just the whole list).

I'd check around on local review sites (even Yelp) if you want to see what people's experiences were without the PR spin of advertising.

Yelp is a great idea, thanks...sorry for the desperate wording but a couple venues just would not be nice for a wedding I was referring to those.

WeddingWire.com lists numerous venues in the Tampa area. MyWedding.com also has listings.

The way I found my venue was to look at caterer's websites to see where they catered. The venues I ended up looking at do not do much advertising.
