Day of timeline?

This is for all ladies, but particularly the ones who already had their weddings. We're having the ceremony a 1pm, which is common in our area. I don't know how to put together the timeline for getting ready. When should I start the hair? The makeup? Because my ceremony is so early, does this mean I have to get up at like 4am or something ridiculous? I have no idea...

Re: Day of timeline?

  • You should allow 1.5 hours for yourself for hair and makeup and an hour for each BM.  I would then allow about 20 minutes to dress and put on your accessories and headpiece.   Then I would pad this some also--I took closer 2 hours just for my hair and makeup so I was rushed getting dressed which was stressful.

So take the time you have to be READY--not necessarily the ceremony time--and then back that up by the number of hours you will need for you and your wedding party and that's your start time.
  • Given the early start time, you're probably best off, if you can afford it, with having the hair stylist and MUA come to you as opposed to running all over town with appointments that morning. If so, you should really only need 2 hours to get yourself ready -- maybe give yourself 2 1/2 to be sure though.

My MUA was onsite and it still took close to 2 hours for just hair and makeup, not including dressing.  I would defintiely pay the extra money for someone to come onsite.  It's worth it!
  • I scheduled 3 hours for me to get ready.  This included professional on-site hair, DIY make-up and a break for me to eat something.  I was ready a little early, so I helped my mom and sister with their make-up too.

  • This is worries me too. My hair apt is at 8 AM, my salon doesn't open until then, and my ceremony is at 10. Luckily they are in my resort. They also will be doing my makeup at the same time as my hair. I know I will be pushing it but I have no choice. They can come to my room for an additional $75-$100 but they are just downstairs so I thought saving the money for something else would be better, I hope I didn't make the wrong decision!

  • So if my ceremony is around 2, then get ready by 1ish?

  • If you're having any pictures (ie you and BMs) before the ceremony be sure to ask your photographer how much time to budget for that.  You'd need to be all ready for those too to they'll also factor into your start time.

  • I think it's also important to not over budget time. A friend planned so much time that we had about an hour and a half of sitting around the hotel room before going to the church and I thought she was going to rip her hair out she was so anxious to get moving!

  • I'm glad I found this post. My ceremony is at 2 and I can't get into my site until 11.  I'm having someone come out to do hair and makeup.  I'm hoping that my trial run will give me a better idea about time.
