Hi all!
I am wondering if anyone has used 514 studios for their wedding reception. I have been looking around the Twin Cities and honestly don't know what we (okay, I -- fiancé would be happy with pretty much anything!) want :-). I like the idea of being able to choose all of your own things, but hate the idea of having to keep track of everything. Cost is definitely a consideration - we'd like to keep the reception under 15K, with lower of course being better. Any idea how much things like chairs, caterers, etc. cost for a place like that? (We are expecting ~150). Can you bring your own alcohol? Positive/negative experiences? Any and all info would be great. Thank you!

    Hi!

    I looked into 514 studios but I have not used it myself or toured it.  However, I did email them, and a couple questions you have were answered in the email they sent me.  (This was back in January 2014 though so I don't know if anything changed)

    They stated: "Regarding alcohol, you are free to purchase and give away whatever alcoholic beverages you would like."

    "have around 150 basic folding chairs and 10 basic 6'x30" white plastic tables available at no additional charge"

    My fiance doesn't want a DIY venue so that's essentially why we haven't looked at it yet, but I still love the idea of this place!  We didn't want to worry about set up and clean up.

    I looked into it a little bit and attended a wedding there. From what I understand, as long as you're giving away (as in not selling) the alcohol, you can bring your own and not have a bartender or anything. If you plan to have a cash bar though, then you need a licensed bartender. The catering is open I believe but there is no onsite option. It was too DIY for us, we felt like the price was high for how much we needed to do, and I am not a detail person. The space is gorgeous though! As long as you're willing to do a lot of the work, I think it's a great place. I also remember the couple saying the staff there is great. Good luck!!
