Wine bottle guest book alternative

I've seen these online and they look really cute. You get the labels on the bottles of your choice and then the guests sign whichever bottle they want. They are called anniversary bottles. Example 1year, 5 years, 10 years etc. https://www.etsy.com/listing/90376576/we-are-the-originators-of-the-wine?ref=related-3

Re: Wine bottle guest book alternative

  • Do you have a vested interest in this particular Etsy vendor?

  • No. That's just one that I've seen

  • If you want to spend $60 on 4 labels and a couple markers, I've got a bridge to sell ya.

@lolo883 ‌ No need to be sarcastic! I was using it as an idea. I would make them myself!!

Oh there is ALWAYS a need to be sarcastic. :)

  • How many guests are you having? There doesn't look like much room to sign on each so if you don't have too many people. Or you could leave one on each table so just the 8-10 people at that table sign it....but that's kind of weird because it would look like it's there to drink. Eh, overall I don't think it's a great idea.

  • We did a similar idea for our wedding. But we just went to one of our favorite local wineries and put a bottle at each table. I made a little tag that I hung around the neck of the bottle on what the bottle was for with a silver sharpy. Our bottles are dark green. The silver sharpie allows the guests to sign where ever they want on the bottle and it stays. We pulled out two bottles on our first anniversary, we'll have to see if we keep pulling out two each year (we have a total of 16 bottles) or if we start doing it to one. Remember to store them in a cool dark location and on their side to make sure they last, especially the 20 year bottle if you go that route. Oh yeah, the staff at the venue was given specific instructions on what the bottles were for & not to open them for the guests to drink

  • Thanks for your ideas. Small wedding, maybe 50. They can sign the label or the bottle itself. I'm going to try and see if my labels at home would work. Can't hurt to try

  • My sister did this for my bridal shower. There were 12 people there and they pretty much filled up the bottle with signatures. I think it's cute. I don't plan on opening my bottle to drink though because I want to keep it as a keepsake with all the signatures.

I'm sorry you feel a need to feel sorry for my sarcasm.

  • I think this is better for a bridal shower idea because it is a gift for the bride and groom. I may side-eye this because some people give wine as wedding favors to their guests and if I was a guest, I'd wish it was a centerpiece or favor from the couple to me.

    WTF?

You'd be pissed off if you saw a wine bottle guest book because you couldn't take it home? Do you get mad when the bartender doesn't lake you carry off bottles of booze at the end of the night?

  • Its just an idea.  Not sure yet which route I will go but I appreciate all of your ideas

    SITB

I didn't say I'd be pissed. I only said I would wish it was for the guests. It's a fine idea, I just feel maybe it would be better idea at a shower as a gift for the bride and groom. I wasn't trying to be snarky. The OP asked what ppl thought of the idea.

Also, OP, after you drank the wine, would you keep the empty bottles with the signatures?
  • Yes I would keep the bottles.  They would be opened on each anniversary date.

I feel like you're taking everyone's comments to heart far more than you should. I haven't seen you around much, but this is the internet. You're not just going to get a bunch of people saying your idea is fantastic, and you don't need to get everyone to agree with you. You'll get some yays, some nays, and a lot of sarcasm. No need to get defensive, especially if you're not the one selling these (which is against TOS, which is why a PP asked you if you had a vested interest).

Thank you for letting me know about TOS, I wasn't aware of that.  I understand everyone has their opinions, if I didn't know that I wouldn't have asked for it.
