I hate when FI's gone. :(

It's like I've forgotten how to function. Doesn't even occur to me to go to bed. Snack on giant pepperoni and muenster at 1:30 am? Great idea. What heartburn? Can't sleep anyway. Did I lock the door? Did I even close it? I hope it's actually Friday this time so I don't have to work tomorrow. Always awkward when I botch that one. Probably won't put on pants tomorrow.

I'M LOSING IT, YOU GUYS. He's only been out of town since Wednesday. We've only lived together since September. I should remember how to be a grown up human person.

Re: I hate when FI's gone. :(

  • Muenster and pepperoni does sound good! I hear ya, I'm heading out of town for over a month starting Monday and will miss FI terribly. And I feel so guilty since I'll be with my family but he'll be all alone in the house with the cats...and on our birthday (we have the same bday) too!

It is weird how when he's gone for research trips I somehow take it as a free pass to lose my schedule and good eating habits. One time I watched ten straight episodes of HIMYM on Netflix and it seemed like barely 10 minutes had gone by. And then when we Skype or Facetime I spend the whole day thinking about interesting anecdotes to tell him...then forget most of them when we talk :P
  • I am always really bad about staying up CRAZY LATE when FI is on night shifts. He did 8 nights in a row last month, and apparently in a couple weeks, he will be doing a set of 7.

I'm going to be so cracked out by the time he's done and it's HIS turn to be cracked out.

:( I'm sorry, I know it sucks! But at least he is coming back soon?

I don't get to live in the same state as FI until 2016. :( I hate it when he is gone too. I just don't sleep well when he isn't in bed next to me. Yay for years of not sleeping well
ETA: don't mind me, I'm being whiny tonight

  • My husband is gone for 2-3 months at a time, so my sympathies are limited. ;)
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Oh trust me, I realize my whining is completely unfounded, @pinkshorts27‌ and @AddieCake‌ ! I'm quite annoyed with myself too. :-p

  • Nah, it's not unfounded. I know it sucks.

  • Aww it does suck. FI and I have also been living together since September, and it totally sucked when he was on his trip last week. I mean, I did enjoy my time alone, but I'm used to him. Ya know? I spent a lot more time talking to the cats lol.

  • It's just crazy how my normal schedule goes out the window when he's gone. I should still be able to remember to feed myself at the appropriate meal times, go to bed at bedtime, etc... nope, I'm completely useless. :-p

I DID manage to take the garbage out yesterday. So there's that.

  • Aw, I'm not annoyed with you. I just wanted to whine with you! :) I don't wish what I have on anyone.

  • Celebrate that you don't have to shave your legs and get to eat whatever, whenever you want ;)
  • When FI is gone I actually end up cleaning my apartment from top to bottom.  We've only been living together since January but when he went home to see his friends this past May, he was gone for two weeks. I never shaved my legs, and I ate a bunch of noodles with butter and cheese on them.  I went to bed at like 1 am.  I had just started a new job so I think that's what kept me sane. But by the time he came home our apartment was spotless.  I cleaned it from top to bottom every day.  I also spent a lot of time on the phone with my mom and sister. I don't have friends here yet, so I needed someone to talk to.

Then he came back and my apartment was far less clean....

Heh... FI is the cleaner of the two of us. He would not be thrilled by the dirty dish situation I've got going on right now.

  • I kind of enjoy when H (first time I have called him that on here!!) is gone. He leaves for a week at a time every month and a half or so for work. When he is gone, I spend a lot more time with my other friends and I don't feel *quite* as much shame about going on Netflix binges. I eat what I want, when I want and the apartment is always far cleaner! I do always look forward to him coming home. though.

  • DH is driving to see his father next week.  I haven't been away from him since my mother died last October.  I am looking forward to not being fussed over.  I get to watch the TV I want to watch!  I can eat whatever I want.  I can go shopping without explaining where I am going, what I am going to buy, and, no, I can't stop at the hardware store.
I sometimes think how different my grocery shopping list would be without him.  He is very fussy about food.  It took me years to learn what he will and won't eat.  He reads the fine print labels on things and gets upset if he finds something he doesn't like.  We have grown together over the years.

I can totally see that happening at some point! We still buy our own groceries - sugar free yogurt, pretzels, chicken and protein bars for him; goat milk yogurt, coconut milk coffee creamer, salmon, hummus and almond crackers for me. I'm hoping I can sway him a little more natural, he hopes I'll get a little less fussy. :)

FI and I are lucky that we pretty much eat the same thing since we moved in together. FI was totally a frozen dinner person before I came along, so he's just happy that I like to cook most days, (and that I make enough for leftovers). His mom got one of those gastro lap band thingies (sorry my brain is telling me its Saturday) when he was a preteen, and she has never cooked. When he first came over for dinner to my parents house when we first friends he was so excited to see food he didn't have to take out of a box. We make our grocery list together, so if I notice that he's getting low on almond milk, I'll buy it. But I'm normally the one that reminds him to add veggies, and fruits to the list, he would rather never eat anything green.

We eat the same things for dinner (I cook, he does dishes) but are set in our ways on yogurt and snacks. We shop together every Sunday; each buy half the staples and our own snacks.

I normally eat the veggies and fruit we get for snacks so FI does and up getting things for himself that I wont eat. But he LOVES junk food, and I'm like, eh - "you can have your coco puffs, I'm good with my baby carrots. "  Normally we don't plan to buy those things, during the week he'll get a junk food craving and pick something up on the way home.

  • You crack me up so much. Seriously though this is typical. I hate when my husband goes out of town. And I have two kids to contend with. I have a girlfriend who will always come stay with me because I am so bad at being an adult. He cooks and cleans, I do neither. We have a general rule that neither of us will go out of town for more than 5 days at a time in a certain time period because the house just falls apart.
