Re: Lego Lady Scientists Sets Out

  • Awesome! DD will love this. This reminds me - I finally got her a Goldie Blox set and have been meaning to post a review here. She LOVES it. I mean LOVES.IT. I was a little disappointed in the story that goes along with it (it was lame, not well written, tried to rhyme but didn't) and some of the directions are lacking, but DD doesn't care. We have this one. http://www.goldieblox.com/products/goldieblox-and-the-spinning-machine I lucked out and found it for 50% off at Target.
  • (darn it! I swear there were paragraphs in my post!)
  • I bought the Goldieblox for oldest niece for Christmas 2013, and she loves them too. She's about the same age as AF's daughter.

That's good to know, because I was considering them for the Woozle last Christmas, but at the time they had pretty mediocre reviews on Amazon.  But I trust your DD more than those people.  ;)

Now I'm trying to find them on sale somewhere to put in M2's gift giving closet.

  • My now-engineer goddaughter and her techie sorority sisters were thrilled to discover Goldie Blox. I think they bought up a batch and willed them to the house.
  • The reason I appreciate them is that there's still a story (although lame, that could be helped) with them.

I get pretty tired of the pushing of STEM; there is a place for humanities and it's one that is terribly important, especially as our society continues to move to one that is more secular.  But this really seemed to attempt to combine the best and let kids learn and decide.

I'm not wholly impressed w/ the goldi-blox; but the kid is impressed as hell with them, so, she endorses them.
  • I may or may not have bought the lady scientist set when I saw this thread. Ok, I totally did. I'm now not-so-patiently waiting for it to arrive.
